Why claims get removed? Nations ask for the plot to be removed or is it a periodic thing

If a nation does not meet the requirements to stay on the map anymore, it will be removed. Most nations will probably not be removed based on the wish of their owner, but either because they CTE'd (ceased to exist) or are NIR (not in the region anymore).
We - currently only Qwert actually - check regularly, whether the current plot owners meet the requirements for being on the map or not and if not so, their countries are removed, so the map is not full of dead nations.
No worries, your question is justified and it's better to explain it more often than not.
