Local Council Vacancies - Punchwood - 08-13-2015

On the 11/8/15 at 19:18 BST we lost a Local Council member, on the same day we lost another Local Council member, this time at 20:08 BST. The Election Act states that a Special Election must be held with 72 hours of the vacancy being made open. The Election Act however also states that if the vacancy occurs in the month prior to the scheduled election the Cabinet must appoint a citizen to fill the position till the scheduled election.

Article 3 - Vacancies

1. In the event that no candidate runs for an available office the newly elected Cabinet will appoint a Citizen to fill the vacancy.
2. Vacancies in office occur when the office holder resigns, is recalled, or no longer holds citizenship. In the event of a vacancy in office a special election will begin within 72 hours of the office becoming vacant, unless the vacancy occurs in the month prior to the start of the term for the position in question; in this case the Cabinet will appoint a Citizen to fill the vacated position for the remainder of the term.

Can I trust that the Delegate will either begin a special election for the vacant position within the remainder of the time he has left, or that the Cabinet announces who they have decided will fill the empty positions within the next couple of days.

Local Council Vacancies - Hileville - 08-13-2015

Since the vacancies happened in the month prior to elections, the Cabinet will discuss and make appointments once that discussion has concluded.
