The Deputy Chair of the Assembly has released a statement in response to comments made in the aftermath of the recent motion to remove a security threat designation.

The Deputy Chair of the Assembly would like to issue a clarification regarding recent comments in the aftermath of the vote to remove Belschaft's security threat designation.
First, the Deputy Chair wishes to emphasise that the vote has closed at 6:07pm yesterday, and has failed. However, while noting that the motion has failed to pass, the Deputy Chair also notes that there a rather overwhelming majority of voters, 70.8% of those who have voted, that have voted in favour of removing the security threat designation.
Therefore, the Deputy Chair has acknowledged that the will of the majority has to be respected, while at the same time noting that there was a sizable minority that did not vote in favour. The logical next step was to lower the threshold for the removal of the designation, thereby putting it in line with recent amendments to the Charter. The amendment currently being voted upon was one that the Deputy Chair had proposed before the coup, and the call for it to be voted upon was simply to take a step towards the will of the majority. There was no political motivation or personal gain involved.
In addition, Sandaoguo has requested for a motion to vote, which would apply if the Cabinet were to fail to make a determination on the removal of Belschaft's security threat designation in due time. While such a request is unprecedented, the Deputy Chair had decided to exercise personal discretion, to accede to what appeared to be a sensible request, to put the motion to vote again should the aforementioned circumstance occur. Again, there was no political motivation or personal gain involved on the part of the Deputy Chair, nor does the Deputy Chair believe that there was malice on the part of the player concerned in making such a request.
In conclusion, the Deputy Chair of the Assembly wishes to reiterate that the principle of the Chair's neutrality and impartially remains firm and clear, and that it was not compromised in this situation.

On Citizenship Masking and Voting
The Chair of the Assembly has resolved to allow Citizens who have had their citizenship applications accepted but have not yet been masked as citizens to vote via Private Message.
In accordance with Article 2.11 of the Charter of the South Pacific
Quote:11. Voting and being elected to an office under the Coalition of The South Pacific shall be rights afforded only to citizens
the Chair of the Assembly is satisfied that persons who have had their citizenship applications approved by the Vice Delegate have fulfilled all necessary requirements to be granted citizenship, barring exceptional circumstances as detailed in Article 2.3 of the Charter of the South Pacific.
Citizens who meet the above criteria should be notified of voting procedures by the Office of the Chair of the Assembly shortly.
