The Canadian Community College was opened this month.

We were lucky enough to secure a virtual copy of Matti Kuusla's Futuro House for our educational office.
I know it is tiny, but it is sweet and adequately fills for our current needs.....and we had to begin somewhere

House of Commons

Three of our long-standing political parties - the Canadian Sovereignty Party, the Fat Whales, and the People who throw Goats and Bagpipers - were archived due to lack of activity. Shortly thereafter a new party, the Eggplant Party of Canada was established.

We had a discussion of tightening ties with Wysteria. This largely focused on the possibility of a shared University. It was noted that we could make a start ourselves to have something to bring to the party. (see above)

We have a welcome up-turn in new members and activity. A note was issued explaining the main government offices and encouraging citizens to stand for office.

Thanks for the update.

RE: Canadian Consulate - Arbiter08 - 05-09-2014

That's quite the tongue-twister at the end.

RE: Canadian Consulate - Almonaster - 05-09-2014

Indeed. Athabasca is another who delights in word play.

RE: Canadian Consulate - The Salaxalans - 05-10-2014

Where did Athabasca get their name, if I may? If it's from where I think, I need to meet this person...

I liked the update! Happywide

We warmly welcome two new ambassadors to Canada, Damien Lancaster from United Kingdom, and Malvad from the North Pacific.

Science has taken front seat at the 'Real Life' and 'Role Play' threads this month in Canada.

In the Canadian Science Faction thread Alterrum posted this link to an article printed in Scientific American written by Paul J. Steinhardt that asks questions about how the universe might first have looked all those years ago. The art work for this article in beautiful - go take a look.
Almonaster posted a link to an article about a design NASA has for a warp drive ship and another article about a funky new material from the Karlsruhe Intitute of Technology that will render touch invisible.

In Role Play Canada continues to consider what each nation might be able to bring to the on going construction of our Space Elevator
Most of us watch and learn fascinated and try to think up ways we might be able to contribute, given our limited technological capabilities and knowlege.
DPL and Almonaster have presented for us the possibility of two types of tether.
One is a lighter weight structure that is potentially more maneuverable/replicable - but easily taken out with just one rogue hit, or go for the more complex twin linked structures that would provide protection to the vital inner cargo should there be a hit, and can also be repaired in part due to its 'segmented' design.
Almonaster Wrote:After debating the merits of friction and maglev transport, a compromise proposal of friction drives to a transfer station above the atmosphere, followed by maglev to orbital levels was reached.
What do you think?

Dear Friends,

I'm sure most of you have noticed Canada has been taken over by invasion forces.

Canada has always prided itself in being a neutral region. We didn't invite the raiders and we shall not invite the defenders.

You are all welcome to show your support during this stressful situation by staying calm and joining us for some doughnuts and beer.

The Pubs of ParkPlace

See you at the party!

Thank you,
Citizens of Canada
