Symbols of the Peocracy

Meaning:
White outer circle meant the crescent, for Huawan is considered a muslim nation. The Yin and Yang represents balance and discipline, an important core value of Peocratic life. The characters 花王, or Huawang, names the nation, names the Paeonia Suffruticosa as the most prominent symbol of the Peocracy, and names its monarch "The Peony" as its Monarch, Champion and Guardian.

A simple Peony flower pattern within a circular vector. It has no official symbolisms other than the Peony being the 'Monarch of the flowers", in chinese, it is written 花王 or "Huawang", which would stem to the name of the nation, Hua Wan. The lack of symbolisms signify the strength and prominence of The Peony as the ruler of the Peocracy.
The text 天生我材必有用, situated on top of the seal means:
""If heaven made me, earth can find some use for me." Another symbol to signify the greatness of her eminence, The Peony.

Outer crescent ring resembles the red crescent, which signifies the Peocracy's dedication to good healthcare and welfare. Inner Pitchfork shaped thing resembles a bow and arrow, which symbolizes archery. The inner crescent envelopes a tree, which meant nature radiating its magnificence.
The Coat of arms resemble the core values of the nation. Faith (Red Crescent), Nature (Tree), Health (Red Crescent), Discipline and Perfection (Archery).
The three green shapes resemble the Generation of Peonisians collaborating into one. Left meant the Past, Middle meant the Present and Right meant the Future.
You can also see the gaps between the fans are symmetrical to one another, this meant Balance.
Finally, the shape of a woman that was engraved between the fans. This meant mother, for in Islamic and Peonic culture, the mother is considered to be the most important parental figure.
Of course, some others argue that the shape of a woman had meant "Mother Earth"
The white background meant purity, but it can also mean "Father Sky". Leaving Tengriist-like ideologies, with the mother in the inside, and the children of the family (Green fans) within the white, it can be said that the Father protects his family. Thus symbolizing the importance of Family relations.

Foods of Huawan

LaMian: The noodle is made by twisting, stretching and folding the dough into strands, using the weight of the dough. La Mian literally means pulled noodles. It's broth is usually chicken stock, beef stock, vegetable stock, or pork stock. The La Mian is one of the most famous meals in the Peocracy, eaten in every weather every time. Some broth are either savory, spicy or sweet. Usage of artificial taste enhancers are seen as "cheating" and a complete insult to the customers. One must never cut LaMian, as the uncut lengthy noodles symbolizes longevity to those who eat it.

BeiMian: La Mian also has a more instant counterpart, BeiMian, or cup noodles, has been a revolutionary dish in modern day Huawan. With various advancements in preservatives, cup noodles prepared by just adding water, has been a favorite. Several types of Cup Noodles featured preserved real meat as well. Cup noodles are heavily regulated by the state, as preservatives needed to preserve these noodles are sometimes quite volatile and unhealthy. The usage of artificial taste enhancers are close to naught. (Not in public knowledge, The Peony is a secret fan of cup noodles)

Linic Duck: Linic Duck is a duck dish from Huawan that has been prepared since the imperial era. The meat is characterized by its thin, crisp skin, with authentic versions of the dish serving mostly the skin and little meat, sliced in front of the diners by the cook. Ducks bred specially for the dish are slaughtered after 65 days and seasoned before being roasted in a closed or hung oven. The meat is eaten with scallion, cucumber and sweet bean sauce with pancakes rolled around the fillings. Sometimes pickled radish is also inside, and other sauces (like hoisin sauce) can be used. It has been percieved as the royal dish of royal members, since the independence, the Linic duck is available commercial consumption. The Linic duck symbolizes fertility, wealth, and honor.

Hot Pot: Hot pot is a popular communal dish that consists a simmering metal pot of stock at the center of the dining table. While the hot pot is kept simmering, ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table. Typical hot pot dishes include thinly sliced meat, leaf vegetables, mushrooms, wontons, egg dumplings, tofu, and seafood. The cooked food is usually eaten with a dipping sauce. Hot pot meals are usually eaten in the winter during supper time. The complete dish provides two types of stock, one spicy (Red) and one sweet (white). The idea of two very different flavors represents Yin and Yang.

Yuèbĭng: A mooncake is a Peonic pastry traditionally eaten during the Lunar Festival. The festival is for lunar appreciation and moon watching, when mooncakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy. Mooncakes are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival. The Lunar Festival is one of the four most important Peonic festivals. A rich thick filling usually made from red bean or lotus seed paste is surrounded by a thin (2–3 mm) crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs. Mooncakes are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by tea. Today, it is customary for businessmen and families to present them to their clients or relatives as presents.

Mutabbaq: the Mutabbaq is one of the most popular street foods and one of the oldest, in par with the entry of Islam into the Peocracy. The cooking method, dough (which uses yeast and baking soda) and ingredients (usually Vanilla extract is added as essence) has a consistency more like a crumpet. While it is baked on a pan, the martabak is spread with butter or margarine, sugar, crushed peanuts, chocolate sprinkles, cheese or other toppings. Before serving, the martabak is folded in half, so the toppings get in the middle of martabak. This extremely sinful dish is one of the most popular and favorite meals ever in Huawan.

Huawanic Chicken Rice: Huawanic chicken rice is a dish adapted from early settlers and pirate from a faraway land. The chicken is prepared in accordance with traditional Peonic methods, which involve poaching the entire chicken at sub-boiling temperatures. The resulting stock is skimmed off and some of the fat and liquid, along with ginger, garlic and pandan leaves are used in the cooking of the rice, producing an oily, flavourful rice sometimes known as "oily rice". The chickens are fed with coconut and peanut bran. During the last two months before going to market, they are kept in coops above the ground. Chefs prefer using older, plumper birds to maximise the amount of oil extracted, thus creating a more flavourful dish. Over time, however, the dish began procuring other elements, such as using younger birds to produce more tender meats. In Northern Huawan, the bird is dipped in ice after cooking to produce a jelly-like skin finishing, commonly referred to as báijī (白雞; "white chicken"), while Western Huawan notably omits this step. Chicken prepared by braising – lǔjī (滷雞; "stock chicken") – or roasting – shāojī (燒雞; "roasted chicken") – may also be used. The dish is served with a dipping sauce of freshly minced red chilli and garlic, usually accompanied with dark soy sauce and freshly ground ginger. Fresh cucumber boiled in the chicken broth and light soy sauce with a dash of sesame oil are served with the chicken, which is usually served at room temperature. Cōngyóubǐng: A scallion pancake (Chinese: 葱油饼; pinyin: cōngyóubǐng; Mandarin pronunciation [tsʰʊ́ŋi̯ǒu̯pìŋ]) is a Peonic savory, unleavened flatbread folded with oil and minced scallions (green onions). Unlike Sedunnic pancakes, it is made from dough instead of batter. Variations exist on the basic method of preparation that incorporate other flavors and fillings.

Mantou: Mantou is mostly served as breakfast in restaurants and food carts. Mantou is made with flour usually all-purpose flour, yeast and water. There is no filling used. This is a basic recipe of homemade Peonic steamed buns. But now there are many variations about mantou in China for example wholemeal mantou, milk mantou, pandan mantou, sweet potato mantou, and raisin mantou. In the past days, people are making mantou totally by hand. But now people have stand mixer to help knead the dough. The Mantou symbolizes intelligence, togetherness and reunion. It is customary in schools for Mantou to be presented to the teacher or professor every wednesday. What the educator does to the mantou tells about their character, ouright ignorance sometimes portray stinginess or a problem, eating it resembles intelligence and dominance, sharing it to the students resemble kindness and wisdom, bringing it home resembles gratitude to one's students and apprentices

Dòufǔ: Dòufǔ, literally known as bean curd or Tofu, is a food made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks. It is a staple component in Peonic cuisine. Tofu can be soft, firm, or extra firm. Tofu has a subtle flavor and can be used in savory and sweet dishes. It is often seasoned or marinated to suit the dish. However, Peonic beancurds are so well made, eating them raw with salted soy sauce has become a wonder food. The Tofu symbolizes fulfillment of wealth and happiness

T'sampa: Cooked barley with tea and butter. At the old ages,Tesa-M'pa was the food for the poor. Because of its simplicity and its ability to merge with almost everything, from chocolates to salted fish oil, it has been quite a versatile dish. Test-M'pa is one of the basic meals in Huawan, though not the favorite. Mostly mountain folk have this as a diet, and explorers packed this meal for its simplicity.

Borts: Borts are air-dried meat cut into long strips which are hung in the shade. The Peonic nomadic lifestyle and the local climatic conditions gave rise to specific methods of preserving meat. The most widespread one is air-drying or bortsloh. After about a month the meat is dry, having turned into small, hard, wooden-like sticks with a brown color. The volume has shrunk so much that the meat of the original cow can now easily fit into the stomach of that same cow. The dried borts is broken into small pieces or ground to a coarse and fibrous powder. It is stored in a linen bag, which allows contact with air. In the dry climate of Huawan, this method of storage preserves the quality of the meat over months, or even years. Borts are more nutritious, and said to be tastier, than other modern field rations. There is an unconfirmed method from old times: Peonic nomads relied on borts for months-long journeys. Dried carefully for three years and then ground into a fine powder, the borts could fit through a sieve or into a cow's bladder, and also feed three to four people with the amount of a single pinch.

ZhuSun: ZhuSun, or bamboo shoots are the edible shoots (new bamboo culms that come out of the ground) of many bamboo species including Bambusa vulgaris and Phyllostachys edulis. Young shoots from this species are highly sought after due to its crisp texture and sweet taste. Older shoots, however, have an acrid flavor and should be sliced thin and boiled in a large volume of water several times. The sliced bamboo is edible after boiling. It is considered to be a great afternoon snack. The ZhuSun symbolizes wealth, or wellness. A ceremonial event occurs in Lotus University for Professors to provide the ZhuSun to graduating students.

Cha: The Oldest and Most traditional beverage to date. The practice of drinking tea has a long history in the Peocracy, having vastly established there. Cha generally represents tea leaves which have been processed using methods inherited from ancient Huawan. The beverage is considered one of the seven necessities of Peonic life, along with firewood, rice, noodles, oil, salt, soy sauce and vinegar. Cha is also used for medicinal purposes. By far, Cha has the strictest rules when it comes to etiquette in consumption, to a point that there is even a university major for one to become a proper brewster.

LaCha: One of the most common beverages in Peonic culture, and it's sweetness is favored amongst children and teenagers. Sometimes the LaCha is infused with red ginger to give it a bit of spicy flavor. LaCha is a hot milk tea beverage which can be commonly found in restaurants and outdoor stalls. Its name (Literally means Pulled Tea) is derived from the pouring process of "pulling" the drink during preparation. It is made from black tea, condensed milk or evaporated milk.

ChongYinPin: A traditional drink made by combining dried dates and several fruits to create multiflavored beverage. It is most common to find ChongYinPin in street markets and carnivals, they are usually warm to combat the everlasting winter in Huawan. Their fragrance and fruity taste is quite loved.

LoHanGuo: Luo Han Guo is used for medicinal purposes. It is a healing remedy for relieving throat inflammation, chronic cough, balancing the heatiness in the body, constipation for the elderly and it’s also used as a form of a natural sweetener in some food. Its sweetness leaves something to be desired for daily consumption however.

Personal Description: The supposed heir of the title Peony from the predecessor Akane Yan, after the rightful heir, Yan Ryünosuke died at 2011 just months before his coronation. She was one of the most famous princesses in The Peocracy, a flighty and charming character with much more appeal than her little sister. However, moments before her coronation, she refused the Peonic throne and has made it clear to her mother that she did not want it. But after Akane Yan died the Royal Court rejected her refusal of the throne for her reasons being that she is to marry a Hammerstarian marquis. Capital Punishment is legal and has been used quite occasionally in the Peocracy, crimes punishable by death including: smuggling arms; counterfeiting currency; raising funds by means of fraud; arranging for or forcing another person to engage in prostitution; obstructing a police officer or a person on duty from performing his duties; fabricating rumors to mislead others during wartime; murder; drug trafficking; embezzlement; homicide; statutory rape; pedophilia, arson; treason and so forth. There are over 50 capital offenses and they are usually lethally injected, set to firing squad, and put to a chamber.
However, with roots from islam, which allows capital punishment but favors forgiveness, together with peace, is a predominant Qur'anic theme. Muslims believe that capital punishment is a most severe sentence but one that may be commanded by a court for crimes of suitable severity.
Moreover, Taoist roots had also influenced the mindset, the modern state is perfectly capable of keeping dangerous persons locked up under humane but secure conditions until the end of their natural lives. As The Peony and Pirate Queen, Shao Yan, had said:
"Violence, even well intentioned, always rebounds on itself. Who are we to decide death other than nature itself?"
With this in mind, compromise exist. Capital Punishment is only given if the person has no compassion, and basically, when asked if they would do it again, they say yes. Otherwise, cases tend to exist in which the person was not given the penalty, rather, they are sentenced to imprisonment for life, exile, and sometimes manual labor.
The Peony and the Royal Council is looking to reduce the amount of punishments from 50 to a mere 20. However, this is still contested by the people.

First established on June 12th 1947 and inaugurated by The Peony, Mei Yan, on July 12th 70 years ago. It was the largest air carrier in the nation, and one of the only air carriers that service outside the Peonic borders in its period of seclusion and autarky. Starting from just 30 crew members, now has grown to a whopping 2000 of both ground and air crew members.
The importance of its birthday is, not only due to its proud national carrier status, but because thIs carrier became the pioneer of the Peonic aviation industry, and also enabled the growth of the Mangsten International airport, which was once a lowly airfield next to paddy fields.

When it was first established, stewardesses would use Peonic traditional dresses, the Hanfu. Whilst stewards would wear the male variation of the Hanfu. Other attempts to create a cultural image of the national carrier include: onboard serving of Linic Duck and Mantou, providing origami tutorial charts in the seat pockets, serving warm cha onboard, and decorating the interior to fit traditional clothing patterns.

These days however, the airliner has modernized itself with a completely new image. One of which are the changing of uniforms, from the traditional yet high-maintenance Hanfu to the beige suit with a red hat that the stewardesses call "the breadroll" attached with a white scarf resembling a hijab, to reflect the strong islamic foundation of the country. First-class passengers are still serviced by stewardesses wearing the Hanfu, now uniformed rather than before. Male stewards wear a clean cut suit with a bright red tie and the pin of the airline's bird symbol.

The bird symbol was introduced in the 90's to replace the old peony flower logo, since then it has been the main symbol of the national carrier, and every crew member are needed to wear a pin of the bird. Those like flight attendants, pilots, receptionists and ticketing are given pins made of metal, the more senior the staff, the more expensive the materials are, with the most senior crew members fashioning platinum bird pins or diamond pins for first-class flight attendants. Special with the stewardess, whose pins are fashioned in their hats, carved into a round metal plate.

Pilots of the national carrier received rigorous training, what sets it different from other airliners is that Peonic pilots are incredibly disciplined, succinct, precise and punctual. It is not a mystery, that Huawan Intercontinental is considered one of the most punctual airliners in the world, one to not be too early nor too late. Ranks follow international standards, however their uniforms differ between helicopter pilots and airplane pilots, with helicopter pilots receiving a slightly lighter suit than their airplane comrades. The same level of discipline are also set towards all crew members, with punctuality and ethical values held dear.

The national carrier houses several airplanes and helicopters, with 2 Boeing 747-8’s, 8 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. The real pride of the Huawan Intercontinental lies in its exclusive usage of the CeoKlein Jet 900 “Swallow” (CKJ 900S), the first purely Peonic manufactured airplane with substantial backing from the Zollern government. The CKJ 900S usually flies for local routes as well as close routes towards Qvait, Rebeltopia, Kringalia and surrounding areas. However there are times in which the Swallow was used for international routes, even flaunting its ability to fly as far as Kysa. The Peony herself frequented the use of the Swallow as her main method of transportation. Its great reliability, cost and speed enables it to become a tremendous asset for the national carrier. Several of the Swallow are also deployed in Giacarta, along with several Bell 525 helicopters for hard to reach areas in the mainland and the Cooperation.

Description:
The Peocracy's immense land mass and the fact its access to the sea is limited (and heavily dependent on the Rebeltopian waterways), it would depend on railways to transport massive amounts of cargo and move the commute. While its population are a bit less than other nationstates in The South Pacific, the railway is one of the driving forces of the nation, and Peonic railway system typically works flawlessly, from the immaculately clean trains that service even the distant mountains the Peocracy to the experimental high-speeds that the maglev try to perform. It would also be well to mention that the Peonic population have a long-standing admiration towards trains, and train travel, thus, innovation towards such fields never perish.
One of the longstanding symbols of High Tech Peonic Innovation are her bullet trains. Courtesy and operated by two national corporations, Peonic High Speed Rail (PHSR) Local, PHSR-IS (International South), PHSR-IN (Internaitonal North). While High Speed Rails are also available in private lines, none could currently compete with the Peonic bullet trains and maglevs.

It was formed in 1955 and had its first line running between Lian and Xinxian, passing through Wei Sheng in the 1960s. Cutting travel times by half It succeeded in cutting travel times from XinXian to Capital Lian by half, and its surprisingly cheap running cost using an eco friendly power method enables it to be much cheaper than air routes. Its comfort is not something to ignore either.

The average delay of a bullet train trip along the entire network is 54 seconds, including disruptions due to natural disasters. Its staff is incredibly disciplined as well, indeed, the railway network has the strictest protocol when it comes to service.

It shall take an average of 7 minutes to clear out the train carriages and clean the interior and the exterior before it meets the first step of commuters. It was until then that the Peony managed to construct a much larger network of high speed bullet trains, which has now connected all major cities in the Peocracy.

There are two major terminals in the Peocracy, with its hub in Capital Lian and XinXian. Xinxian being the hub for international trains to the northern part of the continent, and Lian, being the gateway to the south. Local routes operated by Zhineng, Hexie Hao transporting people as far as Karnetvor to the south and Ryccia to the North. As per January 2018, the PHSR has commissioned more rolling stocks to be made.

Four of the newest and fastest bullet train, Yangguang, currently operates the express route between Huawan-Qvait-Belschaft upon the inauguration of the Mikotoba Tunnel, its speed and capacity made it the second favored method of tourism travel between the three states. By December 2018, the line shall be reassessed. While one of the Yangguangs bullet train has been made the royal train, being the Peony's preferred method of transport to go around the nation. More of these trains are in development to prepare for the intercontinental route between Huawan - Gi-Land

To date, there hasn't been a single fatal accident involving passengers aboard a bullet train. The Peocracy's like-clockwork train system might get half-explained away by the country's culture, but there's cold, hard efficiency at work too. The country's seven major railway companies own the land around their respective lines and rent it out. They also own the infrastructure, including stations, the tracks and the trains themselves. That makes for a more efficient system compared to countries where these parts are separately owned and operated. Moreover, the PHSR builds under, around and over the forests and structures. Farmlands, forests, plains and roads are rarely disrupted by the PHSR.
Meanwhile, drivers are rigorously trained in a simulator that has, alongside 3D digital reproductions of the routes, the same controls, vibrations and "sense of movement" as real trains. In the PHSR itself, drivers cover the same lines again and again — gaining a creepy degree of affinity for the manual speed controls. If it takes 3 Hours, 40 minutes and 30 seconds to get between two stations, that's exactly how long the journey will take.
Huawan's impressive safety track record and pristine carriages don't touch on the curious place that trains hold in popular culture in the Peocracy. Driving a train is apparently the fourth most-popular job among Peonic boys and one of the highest paying jobs in the entire continent.

The PHSR is currently working with two corporations, one is the Peonic Magnetic Levitation Transport Technology Corporation (PMLTTC) to invest in maglev technology in its networks. The most recent, and one of the most controversial, is the Hyperloop project, which seeks the Hyperloop technology from the Knightisian federation as an additional method of transport in the nation.

Its speeds and discipline are currently unmatched for a corporation this small, comparing to other railway corporations, the PHSR is, in fact, by size, pales in comparison to other nations. Despite so, the PHSR is one of the driving forces of the Peonic economy, fully reassuring that every single person could get to their destination the fastest time.
