It was the B-29 Super fortress that dropped the atom bomb over both Hiroshima (Aug. 6, 1945) and Nagasaki (Aug. 9, 1945), Japan.
The B-52 wasn't developed until 1952 and put into service in 1955, some time after the end of the Second World War.
