Not entirely sure what's wrong with our current COI

The COI wasn't written into the current Election Act, apparently.

Well...
We should still go for the old system, simpler

This. I know for a fact that I can't do that, even if I can provide a general list of what I've done and haven't.

RE: Curriculum Vitae Act - Rikutso - 01-02-2017

I.... Like this proposal I suppose. My COI is already pretty detailed, but now I have to go and determine the dates, which is a bummer.

RE: Curriculum Vitae Act - Kris Kringle - 01-02-2017

This will be weird, but...

I agree with Belschaft and Lord Ravenclaw.

There is good intent behind this bill, but its requirements are excessive. I don't think we should require people to describe each position they have ever held, nor provide links to each position. It will be simple for people with few positions in regions with well kept records, but prohibitively problematic for people with long careers in regions that keep disorganised records.

I must also say, and while this is admittedly selfish I don't meant for it to sound aggressive, as a Security Councillor I have no intention of reviewing every CV submitted for every election. It's just way too much, when that kind of security scrutiny requirement is supposed to have been met when each candidate was accepted as a legislator. I think this would be overkill.

RE: Curriculum Vitae Act - Belschaft - 01-02-2017

It would also risk politicising the CRS in a dangerous way, in that they'd be deciding who can or can't stand for office. It's very likely that most, if not all, of the CV's would involve minor errors and omissions and the CRS would then have to decide whether or not to accept them anyway and let the person stand for office - that won't end well.

RE: Curriculum Vitae Act - Griffindor - 01-02-2017

How about amending this bill to allow information to be opted out? Say, if a position held in TSP was over 2 years ago, then you can opt out of adding it. It would be similar to out of region positions as well, but it is extended to 5 years. Of course crimes and punishments shouldn't be able to opted out.

This reduces the workload of trying to remember that random RA position you held 8 years ago in Timbuktu. It really isn't relevant to today's election.

I think links shouldn't be required, that would be too much digging for a position (if we are worried about not having enough people to stand for elections now, imagine what it would be like if you had to dig for an hour to find that job from 8 years ago).

RE: Curriculum Vitae Act - Punchwood - 01-04-2017

There is just way too much detail required in this current draft, reducing the amount of information required would be a good step.

RE: Curriculum Vitae Act - Spenty - 01-08-2017

I fully support this act as it provides more detail than previous Conflict of Interests. This also provides voters more about the candidate's experience and contributions.
