Germanic in TSP - GI-Land - 01-02-2017

Hey guys*girls (Political Correctness: Check),
I've got a question!

As you maybe know, I've got a conlang (Atlantic), that is based on the Germanic languages and furthermore the official language of GI-Land is German.
Now there's the thing: How is it explainable, that TSP got somewhere Germanic roots for its languages?

My question(s) would be now:
Is there a nation or a region in TSP, where German/Germanic languages developed yet? If yes, where? If no, may I represent the place for it? ^^

Thanks for your help in advance Smile

RE: Germanic in TSP - Qwert - 01-02-2017

We've more or less left it vague on purpose where RL languages have their roots. Austral, or our RL English, which also is a Germanic language, is widely spoken, and many nations have it as a native language. I think it would be hard to agree on a place for its origin, like for other RL stuff (religion, ideologies etc).

The use of German is not as extensive, although there have been a few nations with it over the years. I'm not sure if there currently is another nation with generic German, but I think we should be careful with claiming origins of RL languages, which could make it difficult for new players who also would like to use those languages to get involved. A common language would implicate a shared history.

Maybe we could come up with a fair system of establishing origins for RL stuff?

That would be an idea.
Another idea, that would be somehow interesting too, would be, to have TSP completely apart from RL stuff and every RL stuff, that gets into TSP-rp is just random happening, but on the other hand, this seems pretty odd somehow.

RE: Germanic in TSP - Ryccia - 01-02-2017

Ryccia has Ryccian, a Nordic language, and related languages. Germanic languages not related to Ryccian also exist, like Flowerbellian.

I used to have a nation called The Realm of Falochland (Faloch: Dar Rych fen Falochland) where Faloch was spoken but it doesn't exist anymore. I might bring it back.

RE: Germanic in TSP - Ausstan - 01-15-2017

My country speaks Austral, brought by foreigners, and in some isolated regions our native language Ausstani, which sounds to a foreigner like very angry loud, completely nonsensical shouting, often accompanied with throwing of large lumps of snow and stamping. For that reason, I suggest that my country NOT be the birthplace of germanic languages.

Chinese-Arabic nation here, so nope.

That is an interesting combination.
