Different Election Law Change - Tsunamy - 01-14-2017 Currently the way our Local Council elections work, the top three vote getters are elected. However, I'd like us to change so the candidates aren't running against each other since, theoretically, nations might be spilt over their choices and lesser choices get picked. As such, I'd like to make the following change: Quote:5. Local Council I'm sure someone can write this a bit tighter, but if we're in agreement here, I'd like to push this quickly so it can pass before the next LC election on February 15. RE: Different Election Law Change - sandaoguo - 01-14-2017 With the changes to the Local Council we passed recently, this change has to be done by the LC. We can't originate any laws about the LC itself. Edit: There's also nothing saying this has to be started by the LC side. They may do it, but they don't have to be the ones to do it. RE: Different Election Law Change - sandaoguo - 01-15-2017 No, it hasn't been passed in-game yet, because of the elections. But that's all the more reason to not go through with this. We really shouldn't be making changes to the LC. They're never going to learn how to do things themselves if we're constantly the ones changing things for them. This idea has merit, but it's not our place to do it. It's theirs. RE: Different Election Law Change - sandaoguo - 01-22-2017 So let's give their elections back to them, then :\ RE: Different Election Law Change - Tsunamy - 01-31-2017 Upon re-reading the Charter and subsequent Election Law, it's my belief that if the changes put in the place governing the Local Council and contradictory and does not give the Local Council a way to change anything the Election Law since (a) LC cannot make laws contradicting the Charter or constitutional laws and (b) the Election Act, which dictates the election for the Local Council, is, in fact, a constitutional law. As such, I'm motioning my original proposal to a vote. RE: Different Election Law Change - Sam111 - 01-31-2017 Second RE: Different Election Law Change - Tsunamy - 01-31-2017 (01-31-2017, 10:22 AM)Sam111 Wrote: Second With this second, I'd like to implore the chair of the assembly to move this for a vote immediately. As I noted when this was first introduced, my goal was to complete this before elections start for the Local Council and there is still enough time for that to happen, but time is of the essence here. |
