Administrative Ban of Melix

25 July 2021

Dear South Pacificans,

Melix/Melicorium/Hoy Vux has been permanently banned from all South Pacifican venues to ensure the safety of our community.

Several times, Melix has sought out real life information about other players without their consent (or in some cases knowledge), such as location, name, and photos, violating the privacy they should be able to expect in our community. There is a clear pattern of Melix ignoring other people’s boundaries.

Most seriously, Melix has repeatedly contacted multiple female players to ask sexual questions. These players were predominantly minors, the same age as Melix. These ranged from anatomical questions to asking detailed questions about their personal sexual activity and bodies. He shared inappropriate and unwanted levels of detail about his own sexual activity and attraction to these players. He also repeatedly made unwanted romantic and sexual advances, ignoring that these were not reciprocated.

Several times, he has apologized and acknowledged that his behaviour was inappropriate; but this did not result in a change of behavior.

For our community to be safe, we need to be secure in the knowledge that everyone’s privacy, boundaries, and consent will be respected. Therefore, we have taken the decision to permanently ban Melix from the South Pacific.

If you have been affected by this, or by similar issues, the South Pacific moderation team is always available to listen and help. You can message whichever mod you’re comfortable talking to if you have concerns (we’re all listed here).

Signed,

The South Pacific Moderation Team

Well, fuck.

EDIT: People can really have different sides to them. He seemed pretty nice at first, and then this happened... Just, yikes.

Please remember, everyone, that whilst we have banned Melix for the safety of the whole community, it doesn't benefit anyone to stand in judgement over him or to respond by harassing him in kind. It is the sincere hope of the moderation team that he learns from this experience and grows and this is best achieved by showing compassion in any necessary interactions with him and otherwise leaving him alone to process this. As such, this thread is not a trophy thread to discuss how shocked we are that Melix is a [insert suitable epithet for evil here] and congratulate ourselves that we are not. Life is rarely that simple and we may have our own things to learn from situations like this.

(Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been as active as I should be lately.)

Wow, this was certainly out of the blue. My interactions with Melix over the months have been nothing but positive.

Many thanks to the moderation team for doing what has to be done to keep TSP the safe, wholesome, and welcoming place it should always be, no matter how hard it may seem at times.
