That's a bullshit claim. Any dictionary clearly states "Shameful; disgraceful" (Webster) or "Deplorable; shocking" (OED) or even . as an additional, colloquial definition of "criminal" - because criminal as a word has one meaning in law and one meaning in a more general sense as being wrong. If someone had said you had been convicted of a crime, they would be wrong - but stating your behavior as "criminal" is not in and of itself false under the more general sense of wrongdoing and shame.
