If it is, that's very stupid.
It used to be, and in theory it still is. Truth to be told, the border security officers have better things to do than to prosecute you for bringing gum in. So yeah, there's nothing wrong with bringing some in for personal consumption, but you cannot sell gum in Singapore (other than nicotine gum).
As for why the ban was instituted, it was because gum was being stuck in public places, and it was dirty. So yeah, banning gum has made our city clean, and I'm okay with it.
