The situation between Ryccia and Sporaltryus is dire…President Aaron McBane said, "We tried the peaceful approach, but the Ryccians and Sporaltryans have forced our hands. We must take their nuclear weapons away with force. We must do this before it's too late." On Tuesday, 13 October, Admiral Daniel-Beckham Cutter, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, presented a folder containing documents to the President. On the face of the folder was, "Top Secret. Operation Athena." Admiral Cutter said to President McBane, "Mr. President, you've done everything you could, now let us do our jobs." The President took the folder and opened it. After going through the operational details, he signed it.
On 14 October, by the order of the President, a full mobilization of the Qvaitican Defense Forces occurred, and the 2nd and 3rd Ground Armies were deployed. The 2nd Ground Army would be tasked with invading Sporaltryus and the 3rd Ground Army would be tasked with invading Ryccia. A few hours later, the 2nd Ground Army was put on the ground in Ryccia, assisting the Farengeto military while the 3rd was on the ground in Sporaltryus, assisting the Resentine military.
In a public statement, President McBane said, "My fellow Qvaiticans, this country is at war with the unstable countries of Ryccia and Sporaltryus. May God help us in our battle to maintain the security of this region."
