Sparks fly as Candidates seek to score political points

[Election Central] October 10

With under 24 hours to go until polls open, candidates across the political spectrum spent their last few hours making their pitches to their supporters and questioning the campaigns of others.

At a rally in the South Pacific island of Tawaii, Chair of the Assembly and candidate for Minister of Military Affairs, Roavin, attacked Prime Ministerial candidate Islands of Unity for all but lying to the electorate. The Chair questioned why the current Minister of Regional Affairs referred to his service as ‘just filling the remainder of Nakari's term’ when he had previously committed to an active and engaging term.

In a scathing review of Island’s campaign, Roavin highlighted a number of inconsistencies in the responses provided by the candidate to constituents’ questions, and sought to cast doubt as to the Minister’s credibility.

Island’s campaign office called these attacks ‘hostile’ and wrote that he will give ‘the benefit of the doubt and address the concerns [Roavin] brought up here, instead of assuming that … the intent of these questions [was] to delegitimize [himself] or [his] campaign.’ The candidate proceeded to provide a series of answers which was intended to demonstrate Island’s train of thought which had led up to these alleged inconsistencies.

In response to why he diverged from his earlier promise of activity, Island stated ‘[there] was a difference in what I expected the office to be like and how it is. I admit that I over estimated how fast I could get the ball rolling on the projects I wanted to come to fruition.’

The fierce discourse between the candidates underscored the importance of the position being debate. A long-time government official, Rebeltopia, observed in a statement that ‘[if] you’re looking for a cushy leadership job, TSP is not your best bet. In fact, its probably one of your worst options…’
