15 July 2019 Press Release on the Chief Justice's Speech on Independence Day
Chief Justice Kringle delivered an address today to commemorate the 16th Independence Day of the South Pacific, in the context of the festival organised by the Ministry of Regional Affairs to celebrate the occasion. In his address, the Chief Justice recounted the events that led to the region's independence, and drew a direct link between the values that former delegate LadyRebels espoused and the values that the High Court safeguards in the present day. He then called on the region to keep its commitment to openness, democracy and freedom. The address can be read in full in this thread.
