In Defense of a New Defender Moralism
#2

This is a very well-written explanation of exactly the way I'd like to see TSP approach defenderism as well.

To your point about how you'd be unmoved at the end of R/D: The defenders or the past few years would mostly be upset by the end of R/D -- they like the military game for its game aspect. But our New Defender Moralism doesn't care about whether R/D exists or not. It's about sticking up for communities when we can because it's the natural thing to do, in whatever way is best. Military action isn't necessarily the most important part of this new defender moralism. It seems like that's what sets your vision apart: it takes a broader view of what can and should constitute being a Defender than simply the world of military gameplay. It sees Defenderism as a body of values speaking to how we should treat communities instead of speaking to how we should act towards Raiders.
