[IC] A digital exchange between Besern and Doge Land
#1

An e-mail was sent from the address of Heike Braun, one of the State Secretaries whose position is second-highest only to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was currently preoccupied on other matters, to the address of the Minister of Foreign Affairs or equivalent of Doge Land.

    To whom it may concern,

We do concur that the actions of the Ryccian Federation pose great threat towards the sovereignty of nations in the area. The Republic at this time does agree that a defensive agreement between the nations of Doge Land and Besern would be mutually beneficial towards disarming the junta in Ryccia.

In a situation where Ryccia was to invade Doge Land from their border in the mountains, we do believe that they would not be able to get very far. As I am writing this, defenses are being set up along the border where we would have the high ground in a defensive situation. We would appreciate weapons like artillery to help fortify this border even more. However, in a hypothetical situation where Ryccia was able to break through our defenses, we would appreciate help on the air front as our air force has been extremely lacking as of late.

We believe that in a hypothetical invasion situation by Ryccia, the most likely route of attack of Besern would be via naval invasion. We believe that our highly capable navy would be able to slow down the naval advance and eventually cripple their naval forces enough so that if they do end up landing in Besern, there will be not much of the navy left to do much damage.

After the junta collapses, we believe that a defense agreement will no longer be necessary, as all likely threats in the area would have been neutralized. However, we do believe that some form of economic agreement would be beneficial to both parties after the removal of the junta.

Yours in diplomacy,

Carter Richardson
External Affairs Department Head
