Docklands - The Wilcox Gunners
#1

Background - Description of The Docklands and it’s History

The Docklands west of Izaakston were once one of the busiest and wealthiest port and industrial areas in the southern seas, with great industrial factories that produced millions of tonnes of goods being exported every year.

Wedged between the sea and the raw material rich Snowborn Alps the people of the Docklands were ideally placed to capitalise on the industrial revolution and vast numbers of people from across Pacifica migrated to the area, leading to tightly packed and narrow streets of dense smoky back to back housing, with vast factories that had distinctively Izaakian spiralled chimneys.

By the end of 19th century the Docklands area of Izaakia contributed over half of Izaakias national produce (Including Sallodesia and Hai Men). Through the early 20th century unions began to form in the area, and were influential in the development of The Izaakian NHS and Social Security, and many workers rights.

However, by the late 50s and early 60s the unions had become heavily influenced by organised crime, and the Docklands area began to decline into a run down and crime ridden suburb of the more prosperous Izaakston and New Mako, and by the 1980s had become little more than a slum.

In 2022 the Government announced a regeneration plan, that would demolish the area and build a new city.
Gianni: “Izaakia, I hate you so much. You’re such a good bad guy. Must be because of your genes“.
