Government Spotlight: Kris Montresor, Minister of Health (2spooky4u Edition)
#1

Kris Montresor is the South Pacific Minister and leader of the South Pacific Ministry of Health. He oversees any and all medical and patholigical emergencies and situation in the South Pacific, and does his best to divert the Ministry's resources to prevent and eradicate the viruses, bacteria, and other such organisms. This interview was done at the Ministry's headquarters, where a patient of the Z-Virus was being held. This Spotlight is dedicated to Rubart Quinlan McAssel Jr., husband and father of 3 children, Mira, Fransis, and Quinlynn, who died in the line of duty as a journalist. Rest In Peace, and may God's grace shine upon you.

Rubart Quinlan McAssel Jr. (RQM): As we both know, about a year ago a virus appeared, and nearly ended up killing over half of the South Pacific. Is this virus in any way related to the "Z-Day" virus of a year ago?

Kris Montresor: Following reports from the South Pacific Centre for Biological Research, I can confirm that the current virus is Solanum. We have not yet identified the virus from the previous Outbreak, but I doubt it is the same one. We have not seen any reanimations this time, just aggressive behaviour from those infected.

RQM: What are the symptoms of the virus?

Kris Montresor: Symptoms include rapid decomposition of body organs, most notably of the skin. Also there is extremely aggressive behaviour and an inexplicable desire for human meat. These sound a lot like the symptoms of the previous Outbreak, but I can assure you they are not. This is a harmless disease.

RQM: Is there any treatment or cure?

Kris Montresor: Experts at the Centre for Biological Research are working overtime to find a treatment or cure for Solanum. I’m sure we’ll know as soon as they discover it.

RQM: What can people do to prevent the spread of the virus, and protect themselves from it?

Kris Montresor: Just stay at home and stock yourself with food and weapons, or go to the Safe Zones that the Southern Tactical and Rescue Squadron (STARS) has established. Also, stay away from anyone exhibiting the symptoms, and if you see someone like that, contact the local STARS Team right away.

RQM: What should the governments of the South Pacific do to prevent the spread of the virus?

Kris Montresor: They should all join the South Pacific Emergency Network, a network where all governments can coordinate responses and efforts with the Ministry of Health. They should also encourage their citizens to join STARS and help with containment efforts, which I am told have been very successful so far, despite misinformation campaigns saying the contrary.

RQM: This virus has been worrying many especially with the recent escapings of the patients. Some are considering - Due to the very large risk of a full scale epidemic and the nature of the virus - that instead of trying to treat these patients we should euthanize them and burn their bodies. What is your - And the Ministry’s - opinion on this? Are these concerns warranted?

Kris Montresor: Absolutely not. I want to assure the population that these people are humans, living and breathing, and they just need to be treated. The Centre for Biological Research will soon have a cure, and then they will be able to live their normal lives again. The official position of the Ministry of Health is that this whole situation will be over shortly, as soon as our experts find a cure for Solanum.

RQM: What is the risk of the virus becom-... Wha... What is that?

Kris Montresor: Oh dear, what was that?

This portion of the interview has been edited for it's graphic nature. The events recorded in the audio after the last comment my Mr. Montresor consisted of breaking glass, banging, yelling, shooting, and growling. Rubert Quinlan McAssel died shorty after his last comment by the hands of a patient, and his body was burned for safety. Kris Montresor barely escaped with his life and is currently fore fronting the effort to stop the pandemic. These events happened on the 28th of October, 2014.

Rubert, we will miss you.
