Christmas

It's getting to that time of year again. Over the years, the meaning of Christmas tends to change for some people. I know it has for me. For some it's about presents, religion, friends and family getting together, just another day and even dislike it altogether. What does Christmas mean to you?

For me and my brother Church of Satan, Christmas is one of the few times of the year when the family gets together. Given that much of the family is gone due to things like divorce, which makes it that much more important for us. We try to hold things together as best we can, but it usually ends the same. Either dinner with our dad or dinner with our mom and a small handful of other relatives. Even our older brother tends to blow it off last minute or just ignore us altogether. Even so, the holidays are very important to us and we hope it is just as important to all of you as well.

To me, Christmas is that time of year where I convince my family I can't go home because of work and/or money, and I convince my few friends that I won't die of loneliness or boredom if they don't take me into their home with a bunch of strangers I've never met or will meet again.

Although it has passed. I feel as if Christmas has been over-commercialized.
The true meaning however, differs from person to person.
To me it is a time to be with those you love now, not to dwell on those you have loved in the past, or think you love in the future. But now.
(Lel, I'm not even sure this was a posted philosophical question.)
I dunno, I feel like in most cases it's just not worth rounding up family that clearly don't care for each other in the ways that they should. If a family has to be bribed or convinced to come to a family Christmas party then so be it, don't come, don't even bother asking. Have the people close to you be there, makes a new family of your own.~

It's the time of the year that I get two weeks off school in the middle of the ear, and family comes to visit, and I get presents! What's not to love?

I can see my family whenever I want. Well my maternal side of the family. Whatever, why I really love Christmas? The cheer, the happiness of the season, the presents! The holidays feel so cheery and special, don't you think?
