DEFEATED: Repeal "Rights and Duties of WA States"
#11

It's going to fail by a huge margin so I can't see it makes a huge difference. Nonetheless:

I am in favour because of the argument about war: Article 5 of the original resolution is completely ridiculous, and by defining war as "a consensual act" it both legitimises wars of aggression and fails to address how war actually works. With it in place, the WA can never really pass its own versions of the Geneva and Hague Conventions, or in general address war.

I am less convinced by the arguments about Article 9 and 10, because I don't think the moderators will let any proposal that tries to address the interpretation of international law, or a more nuanced view of the "No Army Rule", actually pass. This is not based on the proposal rules: this is based on the fact they will revise the interpretation of the rules in any way possible just to avoid backing down. It is no longer about the game: it is solely about the moderators refusing to cede ground.

I will admit I'd also like to see the resolution canned for historical reasons. It's plagiarised. It's illegal. And Frisbeeteria made no effort to redraft or defend it, rushing its submission in under 18 hours to make sure it was the first resolution passed, for reasons of ego.

So, I would say, support it if you agree with the arguments about the naive definition of war, the vague definition of compliance, or the restrictive anti-interventionist definition. Don't support it if you want to reward a sustained campaign of trolling directed against Auralia and totally unchecked by a moderator team whose abuse of power has made them disappear up their own collective arsehole.

Regardless of how the repeal goes, I want to get in the habit of asking for the opinion of the WA Advisor, which is you.

For the record, I'm going to vote FOR.
