Government Closeup: Rebeltopia
#1

***MoRA Government Closeup***

Interview Publication Date: 05 December 2013
Interviewee: Rebel-topia
Interviewer: Escade

Our interviewee today, Rebel-topia is the current vice-delegate of the South Pacific and is running in the "Craziest Person in TSP" candidacy in the current election. He's had a long career in TSP and supports the cake team.

1. How did you learn about Nation States? What enticed you to join?

I learned about NationStates through Penguin back in June of 2011. She had shown me her nation, and I thought it looked fun, so I created my own.

2. How long have you been in the South Pacific?

My first nation was born in TSP, and within a few weeks, was banjected by Sedge in his coup. When he finally left, I moved back, and I've had a nation here ever since.

So coups and banjections seem to inspire certain players to rise and enter the fold (of government) so to speak.

3. What do you like most about being a resident of TSP?

I like getting involved in the government, both the Assembly and Cabinet. But the absolute best part of TSP is the friends made. Wether friendship is kept in-game, or you meet these people IRL; hands down friendship is the best part of TSP.

Friendship is what keeps me in the TSP and has led me to running for delegate Smile

4. If you were delegate of TSP for a day what would you do?

I'd coup. Tounge But, really... I'd probably spend the whole day sending out mass TGs, trying to bring new players (and all those holdouts) to the forums. There's so much more to NS than just answering the issues and getting those awards on your nations page Smile

So every once in a while coups help revive the region, maybe we should have some "orchestrated" coups. The delegate can coup themselves Tounge

5. Cake or pie? Why?

CAKE!!!! Happywide It's just so much tastier than pie could ever be!!

I'm going to tally the cake\pie votes, I think we Cakers can hold our festival in honor of the TASTE Smile

6. Favorite book, movie, or game?

I'm going to have to go with movies, and say Mel Brooks "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". I'm really a fan of anything Mel Brooks, though...

7. What is the significance behind your nation's name?

I thought it'd be fun to play off off a civil war type idea. I was throwing things into the nation name box, seeing what was already taken. "Rebeltopia" had already been used, so I added the hyphen, and Rebel-topia was born Smile

8. What position(s) have you held in TSP? What was your favorite?

I've been MoFA (3 terms), MoS (1), and VD (1). I was an ambassador to two regions for a very short time, and I've served in the SPA/NSA since it's creation.

Wow, that's a long career. What's your favorite position and why?

9. If you had to advertise the position of Vice Delegate, how would you do it?

The Vice Delegate is involved in a few different parts of the government. Besides the obvious cabinet member status, they are the chair of the security council, and now sole person in charge of citizenship applications and upkeep. And, most importantly, they have to be ready at a moment's notice to assume the deleglacy. It takes strong leadership qualities, and the knowledge of how in-game works.

10. How would you describe LadyRebels and her tenure in TSP?

I wasn't around when she was delegate, but I can speak for her personality. She has a passion unrivaled by anyone I've ever known. She's a fun-loving, caring woman Smile

Thank you and great applause for Rebel-topia for a intriguing interview and for elucidating the responsibilities of the Vice-Delegate position. I'm hoping that these closeups encourage new TSPers to run for government positions.
