Here with us today, we have the one-time Delegate of Osiris and die-hard fan of Flemingoviaism, Astarial. Asta is also a frequent sighting on the region's IRC channel. Want to know her thoughts? Read on!

1. How did you learn about NationStates? What enticed you to join?

I learned about NS back in the summer of 2004. A friend of mine had just created a nation and showed it to me, and I joined because I was bored and looking for something to do.

2. Any interests outside of NationStates?

Assorted, though mostly solitary. Reading, video games, knitting, that kind of thing - I'm pretty introverted IRL. The closest I get to general social interaction is through volunteering at a local animal shelter - and even there, I prefer it when I don't have to talk to other people.
And hey, now that I've finished my MA, I might actually have time for the occasional interest outside school.

3. What is the meaning behind your name?

Back when I was creating my nation I started with the name "Azrael", the angel of death or somesuch, and played around with it for a while until I found a version that I liked and that wasn't already taken. So, Astarial really doesn't mean anything other than indicating the sort of moody teenager I was at the time.

4. If you had won an election here, what would you have done?

I would have been very surprised, since I hadn't run, and very amused, since I'm not even a citizen, and I'd probably use it as an opportunity to spread the values of Flemingovianism. I gather it has reached TSP's shores in the past, but does not seem to have caught on as it should have.

5. Cake or Pie? Why?

Cake. Pie simply does not have enough delicious frosting - though pie's okay when it's filled with chocolate.

6. Favourite book, movie or game?

Favorite book... that's tough. As a standalone, I probably have to say Snow Crash, though I adore the Discworld series in totality. Movie, it's definitely Dr. Strangelove. And game... video game, I've gotta say Portal, but non-video, Cards Against Humanity.

7. What do you aspire to see in this region?

A greater acceptance of the glory of flemingovia and an increased and increasingly dedicated following of the same.

8. Anything else you’d like to add?

The beachy, tropical skin on TSP's forum makes me resentful of winter. Stop that!
