Venezuelan update!
Lately, President Maduro has gotten himself in a war of words with Luis Almagro, General Secretary of the OAS (Organization of American States), due to speculation that he would invoke the Inter-American Democratic Charter on Venezuela's case. Maduro rejects any action against the country, saying that nobody has a right to "intervene in the internal affairs" of Venezuela, and called Almagro "a CIA agent", "puppet of the Empire (that is, the US)", "traitor", "scum", and more of the usual baseless accusations. This was Almagro's response. For non-Spanish speakers, here is a translation: "Message from the General Secretary of the OAS to the President of Venezuela 18 of May, 2016 President Nicolás Maduro, I am not a CIA agent. And your lie, even if you repeat it a thousand times, will never be truth. Anyway it is convenient to make it clear, even if this is just to deny the absurd. My conscience is clear, President, and my conduct is even more clear. There is no threat you can make that will even remotely touch any of those. I am not a traitor. I am neither a traitor of ideas, or of principles, and this implies that I am not to my people, the ones that feel represented by the principles of liberty, honesty, decency, public probity [*], democracy, and human rights. But you are, President, you betray your people and your supposed ideology with your content-less ramblings, you are a traitor to ethics in politics with your lies, and you betray the most sacred principle in politics; submitting yourself to your people's scrutiny. You must return the wealth of those who have governed your country with you, because that wealth belongs to the people, you must return justice to your people in all the sense of the word (even finding the true killers of the 43[**] and not the ones you have imprisoned for their ideas, even if they aren't yours or mine). You must return the political prisoners to their families. Due to exceptional circumstances, I'll revive this thread yet again.
Venezuela's Supreme Court has "ruled" that because of the situation of "contempt, which persists in the National Assembly", it will exercise, indefinitely, all the powers usually allocated to the legislature. I'm not exaggerating when I say all; it can essentially create its own laws now. As it is painfully obvious, this move effectively dissolves the Assembly. This is a self-coup, similar to the one Fujimori did in Peru twenty years ago. There's no question about it. Now, for all intens and purposes, I'm living in a fucking dictatorship. Sources:

@RandomGuy199 Tyranny cannot survive if the people fight back. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi. They led the charge for freedom. Venezuela needs people to rise up and demonstrate. Protest. Civil disobedience. That is how you take your country back.
@Qvait But sometimes it's not as easy as that.
I think RG already mentioned, that people talking against the government were imprisoned because of that. Sometimes it's just not as easy as "Just demonstrate and it will resolve". It's only easy, if the time is right and if it's a really, really big movement.
