THE CABINET OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC

Statement on the Situation in Lazarus

The South Pacific is greatly saddened by the recent events in our friend and ally, Lazarus, and we sincerely hope for a speedy and amicable resolution.

As the oldest democracy in NationStates, we certainly understand the need to have a government of checks and balances and governmental officials who are held accountable to the people of the region. We strongly believe that the fundamental rights of the Lazarene citizens should be respected and urge those involved to put the region and its citizens ahead of personal power grabs.

As such, out of respect for the government-in-exile, The South Pacific will be closing its in-game embassy with Lazarus until such time that this dispute is resolved. We hope that the region will be reunited and that the People's Republic of Lazarus will once again assume its rightful place as Lazarus' government.

As explained here:

Cormac Wrote:Stujenske began ejecting and banning WA nations that had relatively high influence and weren't endorsing him in November, and that has proceeded on and off since then. Funkadelia recently noticed the latest round of bans as well as an illegal change of the regional flag and publicly complained about it on the forum. For the high crime of voicing his opinion, Funkadelia was banned from the forum and his citizenship was stripped, and the Judicial District was dissolved so Funkadelia would have no ability to appeal.

Then, Congressman Prostokvashino (Gulliver) proposed a vote of no confidence against Stujenske in the People's Congress. Stujenske deleted the vote of no confidence, removed Gulliver from office, and deleted the bill of rights from the constitution, despite the constitution making clear that the bill of rights could only be added to, not subtracted from. Stujenske has since abolished the constitution altogether and dissolved the People's Republic of Lazarus, despite the constitution also making clear that the constitution cannot be repealed.

The legitimate government-in-exile is nonetheless continuing to uphold the constitution and proceeding with the vote of no confidence on the new forum, which is not the forum linked in the WFE, because the forum in the WFE is under the control of the rogue Delegate.

Thank you. I am sad to see the cycle of mass ejections and ignoring of laws that continue to happen in Lazarus and wish for a swift and peaceful end to this conflict.
