We usually alternate between pre-colonial and colonial history and War of Independence (1500's-1830) and modern history (1830-present day) each year. We only see world history in 8th grade, which is a shame. The problem is that most of what we see either comes with heavy bias/propaganda; for example, the Independence War part either casually overlooks or downplays the atrocities committed by the Patriot forces against civilians, or justifies them as necessary. The silver lining is that, due to the unstable nature of our politics during the 19th and early 20th centuries, which includes at least ten coups/civil wars, that part is usually interesting. There's also a time (in 1902), when both the British and the Germans attempted to blockade us to force us to pay debts and we managed to not end up destroyed

Well, we don't have a big colonial history and never really talked about it, although there would be this important part with the genocide on the Herero and Nama in "German Southwest-Africa", but whatever.
We talked about the Egypts, Greeks and Romans mainly, especially the latter one, before going into a bit more detail, when it comes to the Middle Ages and Rennessaince. BUT the next big subject after the Romans was in fact the reformation by Luther, but not the Thirty Years' War, and the Absolutism in France, before the French Revolution. We only talked barely about the American and Industrial Revolution in Geography and English class. The formation of Germany, the "Kaiserreich", colonisation and WW1 we "did in high speed" and then, a big subject came up, that we talked about in sooooooo many grades at school: Hitler and the Holocaust. WW2 wasn't interesting, in the minds of the curriculum-writers, but especially the rise of Hitler, due to various reasons, the war preparations (where we, surprisingly also talked about historians, that gave e.g. GB a little share of blame on the start of WW2) and the Holocaust. This was followed by the time until 1949 (1989 in the advanced course) and that was it, I guess.

Well, speaking about history...
If my memory doesn't fail me, exactly one year ago, then Delegate Hileville, on the pretext that admins Kris Kringle and Sandaoguo were abusing their powers, making the regional forum "permanently unavailable" (the High Court disagreed) created a new regional forum on Zetaboards, and then redirected the URL of the official forums to it, effectively moving the forums without Assembly consultation (which was, and still is, unconstitutional). This triggered a constitutional crisis that led to a coup on Hileville and his cabinet's part ten days later, nearly causing a civil war. As I wasn't sure if somebody would commemorate it (it was a pretty... intense time, after all), and I'm of the people who think history should be remembered lest we repeat it, I'll be having a "Remembrance Week" of sorts here at the bar, where the ones who remember the whole thing can talk about what they did at the time or something. I'll give more info about the coup itself on January 31st, the one year anniversary of the event. Hileville's original statement about the move can be found here.

Thanks, RandomGuy...there was a TSP History project a while back that was meant to capture all of the history of the region in one place (a timeline) and it didn't seem to go anywhere.

I know this is easier said than done, but a simple way to start collecting history might be to ask questions to the people who were present at a certain historical events or who might know enough about it.
