I'm Catholic, but aside from going to mass (and almost never paying attention) I don't really practice, nor agree with most Church teachings.

Probably best described as an Agnostic Atheist nowadays.

Oof, my grandmother avoids them when they come to her house to preach. They go to residential areas to do so(no offense for you, btw). She just stays quiet when they are near her house. I never understood why she's doing that, just let them preach, or just ignore them or tell them to go away for trespassing! No need to avoid them!

I'd imagine that some people find it annoying or don't want to deal with it.

Usually, once you engage them, getting them to leave without:

A.) listening to what they have to say (against your will)
b.) being disrespectful or downright douchey

can be quite difficult.
