Mapping hurricanes
#11

TSP's map is divided in 9 rows by the grid - 10° of latitude each row, from 20°N to 70°S - so that makes it a bit easier.

NE Trade Winds (Tropical Easterlies) should occupy the top 2 rows (20°N to 0°)
SE Trade Winds (Tropical Easterlies) should occupy the next 3 rows (0° to 30°S)
Westerlies should occupy the next 3 rows (30°S to 60°S)
Polar Easterlies should occupy the last row (60°S to 70°S)

The winds closer to the equator (0°, 3rd row) should be pretty mixed up since that is a big convergence zone.

I wish I could help out but unfortunately I don't have my PC.

IMHO,There are four possible (tropical) hurricane-generating zones in the South Pacific, and the plots affected:
Zone 1: #198, 175, 174, 160, 161, 162, 159
Zone 2: #138-#146
Zone 3: #101-#104; #119-#128
Zone 4: #068-#076; #080-#086; #085-#096; #106-#118

Tropical cyclones/typhoons/hurricanes form over wide expanses of warm water; meaning they tend to form over tropical seas. The prevailing winds mean that they are always being pushed westwards over open tropical seas in and then northwestwards above the equator to southwestwards below the equator. Storms over Zones 1 and 2 likely to be stronger because of the greater stretch of open water from which the storm can draw strength; Zone 4 will tend to have the weakest; occasionally storms from Zone 2 can spill to Zone 3.

Is there an official climate map?

There is a biomes map which you can find through the first post in the map thread.

I could do a weather forecast for some of the cities.

Maybe I made the summers too warm for my capital city. This is what I was planning for the climate of Falochstoð. Do you guys use IIWiki? It's a wiki for nation states and I would be useful for storing info about our countries, political parties, etc.

Most around here seem to keep information on nations to the forums or factbooks.

Also, a little hint on forum etiquette: Double posting is a bit frowned upon. If you have something to add to the thread shortly after making one post, you can just edit it. ^-^
