Outgoing Orders
#1

It my official last day as Minister of Foreign Affairs, with Hileville taking the reins tonight at midnight. During this lame duck session, I have thought about the best ways to leave office and prepare the ministry for Hileville's term and others' future terms. I will be short and to the point with these orders, of which there are only a couple.

  1. Hileville campaigned on what amounts to an experiment on whether old methodologies can work with contemporary Gameplay. I believe that the best way for his experiment to be given a fair chance is for him to enter office with a clean slate. As such, all currently appointed deputies, ambassadors, envoys, and any other special appointments are hereby relieved of their duties. It is up to Hileville if he wants to bring these people back.

  2. The World Assembly is not the traditional purview of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, although both of us ran on campaigns including it as an aspect. It is actually under the Delegate. Tsunamy let me oversee our WA affairs for the latter part of the term, as he didn't have much experience or interest in that part of the game. As such, any activities regarding the World Assembly that I undertook as Minister are hereby returned to the Delegate. This includes the position of WA Adviser, currently held by Feirmont and Hileville may discuss arrangements when they take their offices. I do hope I can play some role in this area, as it was a large part of my proposed agenda during the elections.

  3. It is my deepest hope that Hileville maintains his campaign promise of not radically changing our foreign policy direction. The alliances built under my tenure are important to us in the grand Game that is Gameplay. It is no secret that disagree on a great deal of issues, but I have shown restraint when it came to settled foreign policy I disagreed with, and so I hope he and future Ministers do the same. Additionally, I strongly encourage all future Ministers to take to heart what I wrote in my speech "The South Pacifican Purpose." Our foreign policy should be geared towards bettering our community culturally, rather than having a foreign policy focused on influencing external events or solidifying or absolving alliances based on personal ideologies and alignments within the greater Game.
These are my parting orders and recommendations for our new Minister of Foreign Affairs. I wish him the best of luck in these next four months, and may the next General Election be a review of successes rather than failures. Smile
