Culture: Is it really important?
#1

Let's talk Culture.

What is culture? For me, it is the traditions we celebrate today and the traditions of our forefathers. It is also an essence I can recall but have no words to explain it.

But culture, in this world: is it important? Or are the businessman and the manufacturer more important than the writer and the artist?

Even in a capitalist, socialist, communist, etc. society, I do not see any significant importance.

Let's start with the fact that culture includes any and all manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively by a society. It is the sum of attitudes, customs and beliefs that distinguishes one group of people from another. By that definition alone it cannot be regarded as unimportant.

When it comes to social tradition and requirements, I dislike it, because generally then it stands in the way of progress for the people.

However, pop culture today forms the basis of our society. It's inescapable. I might not like it, but take it away and watch it all crumble.

Culture is simply what defines us.

The preservation and the acknowledgement of culture is a huge deal in Indonesia. Cuz we have about thousands of different cultures in every island in Indonesia.
