The vote is useless. Regardless of the outcome, the vote that was already held is active and commanding. This is pointless reaffirmation that has no legal meaning. But it sets a precedent that we need to vote to correct simple mistakes, which is the exact opposite of the Charter amendment we passed long ago allowing the Chair to fix clerical errors themselves.
Still, we are discussing this. I think of it like this: a review on whether the Empire should stay a Prohibited Group or not.

That would be a debate over repealing the declaration. This is specifically a resolution being proposed to deal with a simple error a previous Chair made.
This is pointless. It's in the laws, I just made an oversight. We don't need to hold a vote on literally whether a passed law is in our laws.
What even happens if the vote fails? It's still in the laws and this isn't an amendment.
The problem is it actually isn't in the laws. Since it was absent from the Code of Laws when we did an amendment to remove NPO we also automatically removed the Empire because of how that amendment was written.

That's a ridiculous way to look at how the Assembly works. I don't know why we always have to be so absurd all the time when it comes to our laws. This is really simply issue. We took a vote on making The Empire a prohibited group. That vote passed. We never voted to repeal it. Therefore, The Empire is still a prohibited group. |
