Appointment for Citizenship Apps
#21

The problem is these citizenship apps have been sitting idle for a week. They should have been addressed, and these people should be allowed to have a voice in the election, and the coming Great Council.

I get we have laws that don't need to be completely ignored, but we are in an abnormal situation. Common sense here will help us.
Eluvatar is set to run the election, but he doesn't have citizenship yet, thus he technically cannot run the election.
No Citizenship apps, No election.

Plus, we tried to have the highest ranking CSS member handle the Citizenship apps, but he refused, saying the VD is supposed to do so.
So, we tried to go with the written law, were denied that, and now we try again and are being denied.

Seems to me we just passed a resolution requiring a special election needs to be held in 72 hours from it's passage and a focus of getting an EC to get the process started would be time better served. Good thing we're trying to reconcile and go on.

Time would be better served making sure people whose citizenship apps have sat idle for quite some time aren't disenfranchised, before starting the election.

That said, I'm pretty sure Tsunamy just said he was appointing himself to process the apps, which is legal, so I don't know why we're still kvetching about this particular subject. Though yes, it would be nice if certain people weren't still hell bent on obstructing just about everything.

We did pass the resolution calling for an election within 72 Hours.
The person who is supposed to be the election commissioner has not been granted citizenship, and neither have the 20 plus people who applied a week ago. If the citizenship apps are not processed, we can't start the election, or if we select a different EC, then all the people who applied for citizenship well before the approved application time limit for elections, will be excluded from participating in them.
Which is what we are trying to avoid by moving forward.

EDIT: Additionally, I would like to point something out to be fair.
We are currently putting everything on Tsunamy to handle. He has been appointed Delegate, He is trying to keep the peace within the region and forum, He is trying to make sure elections are on schedule. And now we are asking him to handle all Citizenship applications, on top of all the other stuff he is doing, plus RL responsibilities.
It seems to me that we are asking too much of one person. Although he has not expressed any issues yet, likely because he is a nice guy, if we keep this up we will push him to the edge.
We are so close to getting this region back on track, we just have a few more hurdles to get past.
So if we could all just ease off a bit, and let things get handled in the best way possible for the region, this will all move more quickly and smoothly.

I don't think anybody had any intention of blocking cit apps from being processed by DM.

Just to add to this, the rule is that cit apps submitted before elections start can be processed. So those of you who have already applied will get your masking as soon the apps are processed.
