Alternate Line Poem
#1

Okay, so the idea here is to post the next line of a poem we will create as we go (a bit like th Three Word Story, but you get a whole line to write and it has to rhyme).

We'll use rhyming couplets (AABB) since that's easiest to keep track of (meaning every other person gets to choose the new rhyme) and the metre should be Iambic Pentameter (da DA da DA da DA da DA da DA) which is closest to normal speaking rhythm, but it doesn't matter too much if we stray from that now and then.  Keeping to the metre is often the hardest part of formal poetry, so we're not going to be too picky.

Hopefully, you should have fun challenging each other with unlikely rhymes (but let's avoid words that don't have any at all, eh?  I'm looking at you 'purple'.)

I'll write a few lines as an example and then we're good to go.

There was a man who lived for apple pie,
Who thought that if he didn't eat it he would die

And so, one day, he robbed a bakery...
