List of Government Officials
#1

MINISTRY OF REGIONAL AFFAIRS
HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Following extensive research, compiled for the most part by past members of the Historical Society and double-checked most recently by myself, I would like to present a comprehensive list of officials elected or appointed to discharge duties as Delegate or as senior members of the Cabinet. This is the result of research in all our previous regional forums and in outside sources, most prominently the website of the South Pacific Offsite Times.

In the interest of disclosure and ease of understanding, I need to clarify the following:
  • In the case of all offices, the dates when each term began and ended was determined based on the day election results were certified or appointments were announced, or based on the earliest date that any news article announced election results.
  • Starting with the June 2017 election, terms begin and end the week after results are announced. Between that and the July 2014 election, terms began and ended based on the date mandated by the law, which was the first day of the month after the election was held.
  • When resignations happened and interim appointments were made, the dates of beginning and ending of the terms in question were noted as such, as opposed to the dates that would have applied had the term continued its course.
  • If an official served for multiple consecutive terms, the lists count them as single terms.
  • In the case of Delegates, coups have not been considered. When a term has been interrupted by a coup, the list assumes the lawful Delegate continued serving as such until another lawful Delegate took their place.
  • Only offices that are contemplated in the Charter as recently amended have been included, and only for as long as they have been in existence without interruption.
  • While these lists are as thorough as possible, they might have mistakes. Any corrections are appreciated, and will be included as soon as they can be verified.

In regards to MoMA, why aren't you including it's predecessor role of MoS?

I could include it, but MoS was created as the merger of MoD and MoI, something that we undid with the creation of the CSS. I feel MoS and MoMA were similar offices, and they certainly shared areas of responsibility, but ultimately not the same office. In a way, that is also why I excluded the Ministry of the Region from the CoA list, even though both administered votes.

A reasonable argument, I suppose.

What about PM? You haven't included any of the historic officer holders.

I addressed that point in the sixth bullet point of my original post: I only included offices that are currently existing, and only for as long as they have continuously existed. I plan to make list for defunct offices, time permitting, so there will definitely be information on other offices, even if they aren't included here.

(From a purely selfish perspective, I already had these lists ready, from my earlier research on those questions you asked in the Coalition Day Festival, so it was only a matter of putting them into tables. I don't have the full information on other offices, which is also why I didn't include them at this time.)

CoA should be updated in the next update.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

I don't really check who's in government at any given time, so whether the lists get updated is more a matter of when I notice or when someone pokes me.

Sorry if that sometimes takes longer than ideal. :/
