Amendment to Article 3.1 of the Elections Act

The following is an amendment to the Elections Act. Voting will remain open for five days and requires 75% support to pass.

The amendment seeks to align the dates of elections in the Act with those stipulated in the Charter

The debate concerning the proposed amendments can be found here.

The vote will end on 30 June 2016 at 4:00pm (GMT+8) A countdown timer is available here.


Quote:(1) On the first of every February, June, and October, the Assembly will convene to elect the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.

The Local Council has indicated its decision to forfeit the 5 votes that would have otherwise been allocated.

Therefore, the vote has passed 23-2 (92.00%), with 4 abstentions, and is hereby promulgated into law.
