What's Next? Omega for CoA
#1

Good day fellow residents. If y'all would all please sit down. I have prepared a few remarks for this occasion.

*throat clearing* I'm Omega, and boy is his exciting! We have an opportunity to select who will serve as Chair of our Assembly for the next 4 months. I know some of you may not know me as I have been here for less than a year. But I think I have done some very important things in the few months I have been here. Many of you may know me from TSP's #1 breaking news service, SPN, or as Chairman of TSP's largest political party, the APC (I will be leaving that office by the end of this month). Or we may even do some RP together. Although, most recently, you probably know me as our most recent Deputy Chair of the Assembly. And that last role, I believe, has given me insight into what we need the next Chair to do.

One of the biggest things that the chair does, though, is the administrative role they take. The Chair works as a servant to the people. The Chair ensures that votes are held and tabulated, they make sure that debate is on topic and civil, and they provide procedural counsel to members. these are the fundamental things the Chair does, and these are all for the service of the Assembly.

This is why the Chair must remain apolitical, something I believe I was able to do when I acted as DCoA. Yes during that time I was (and still am) Chair of the APC, however, I made a pledge that when I took action it would apolitical and I certainly think that I fulfilled that pledge. And I would make that same pledge as CoA. A pledge that, as a servant of the people, I would not use my role of authority for any kind political action.

Now for the part where I list my campaign promises. I only have two. The first is that I would work to fully codify the DCoA position, to prevent this current state of lack of Assembly leadership, hopefully, from happening in the future. The second is one that I know was made by Awe but was one I wholeheartedly believed in and led to me applying for DCoA. This is a huge undertaking, however, I believe we need to have a set of standing rules for the Assembly. This would be a commission made of average legislators, with the goal of taking the laws we have on Assembly procedure and using them to create an Assembly that is more efficient, more civil and much more organized.

Folks that just about wraps it up for me. I hope I will have the opportunity to serve as your next Chair of the Assembly. I would like to wish the best of luck to both my fellow candidates in this race.Lastly, I hope as your CoA, together, we can tackle whatever comes next.

As always I welcome any questions you may have.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Question 1: What kind of chair would you like to sit on?
Question 2: Is there a "rule of thumb", or maybe several, you intend to rely on when processing legislator applications?

1. I would like something simple, like the chair of the Speaker of the US House of Reps. (pic)

Aside from the ones that the Charter gives me, I plan to work with the CRS to make sure that we don't allow anyone who may be a threat to regional security in. Beyond that, though, I plan to be as inclusive and welcoming as possible.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Hm, looks like nobody wants to ask any questions. So I'll do it for them.

- Do you plan on appointing one or more deputies? Which powers do you wish to grant those deputies?
- Is there anything you wish to explicitly do different than your predecessor(s)? (besides hopefully not CTEing Tounge)
- How satisfied were you with Awe's interaction with the Local Council representative, and what, if anything, would you do differently?

1. Yes, I do. They will have the same powers as me except they will not be able to stop debate before a vote, or be able to strip someone of membership due to behavior. I only plan on nominating one (with a confirmation vote).
2. The biggest things are to not CtE. One other thing would be to work with my deputy to make sure they know what needs to be done. And lastly, I would make sure we kept debate a bit more civil and a bit more on the topic.
3. I think it went fairly well. I plan on working with the LC to make sure they know my schedule for votes but beyond that, I will try to just keep the Assembly moving. Unless of course, we have an issue that has to be polled in wich case I will be sure, to make sure that the LC has time for a poll.

Well, I will continue to be a member of the APC no matter what. I will also continue to be News Director of SPN no matter what. However, if I don't win I hope to make SPN a little more active and do some more RPing. I will also still try to make sure we get standing orders passed by the Assembly. I will say though I won't plan on running for Cabinet.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Omega walks onto the stage and stands behind a podium with the campaign logo on the front of it.
Everyone it is with great pleasure that I say this has been a wonderful campaign! I would like to thank everyone who has questioned me, who has supported me and who will vote for me in the coming days. I have had a great week here, campaigning. I would like to thank my campaign manager @"griffindor13" for all the help has given me. I would like to thank @Tsunamy for nominating me in the first place. And lastly, I want to thank Awe for appointing me DCoA. Without that, I would not be here today.
I have one last thing to say before the polls open. And that is that no matter who you vote for, go vote. By voting, you tell everyone what ideas you support and what kinds of people you support. I want to thank the other candidates, and I would like to wish them both the best of luck.
Let's all go vote for our next CoA!

What's next?
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.
