[SUGGESTION] Don't display WA vote tallies to non-delegates
by Anapol on 11/11/16 12:30pm

I think a lot of normal WA nations vote based on what the current vote is. Sometimes big delegates try to stomp resolutions down by voting it down the minute it goes to vote. Right now, the current resolution stands at 81 FOR to 1940 AGAINST.

I think it would be interesting if NS hid the vote tallies from non-delegate nations* for the first 24 hours of voting. Does anyone else think this is a good idea, and is it technically feasible? It would counterbalance the effect of early voting by big delegates and encourage nations to evaluate resolutions by conducting their own quality assessments.

*Excluding the author, plus the subject nation or region for SC proposals

What do you think? It's a radical departure from how the WA currently works, but I think it would enhance the quality of the average nation's WA participation.

I think it's good in principle, but how would this work for GC resolutions if "the subject nation" (which would in that case be all WA members) would be excluded?

That part is just for SC proposals. A region or nation that is the subject of a resolution gets to see the vote tally.

That makes sense.

Good suggestion. I tired of seeing the crowd effect on NationStates.
However, we can still keep the nations vote number for the first 24-hour but hide it in a button that has a notice maybe?
That makes things a little more transparent.
