Formalizing the DCoA position
#1

Since this in particular was a huge spot in Omega's first campaign, I feel it needs to be addressed and settled ASAP.

The DCoA has traditionally been the assistant position to the chair, and in many ways, it is. The CTE of Awe left a temporary open position in the CoA, it triggered an unexpected election to begin. I propose that we simply add the DCoA into the laws, and have the Charter state that the DCoA will become CoA (with the right to appoint a new DCoA) until the next scheduled election. I also propose that we put CoA elections in with cabinet elections, or delegate. Right now its simply a blur of elections for about 2 months, between CoA, then delegate, then LC, then cabinet.

What do ya'll think?

I agree that the DCoA should be added into the charter to act as acting CoA in the event of that a CoA should CTE. However, I do not agree that the DCoA be included with the cabinet elections as it is a junior position that should be appointed by the CoA and approved by the Assembly.

Uh, deputy positions are not approved by the Assembly. Deputies are appointed in their respective ministries/areas, by their respective ministers/others.

I understand that, but this particular case I recommend getting assembly approval for the DCoA. Since there is a risk for the CoA CTEimg

I'm not sure if you misunderstood, or if I just cant comprehend your response at the moment. I'm saying that CoA would stand for election during cabinet elections (or delegate if we wanted), the DCoA would still be appointed by the elected Chair.

On the topic of confirming a deputy, I am generally opposed to the idea of having confirmations for that, but I would be able to support that. If a cabinet member were to CTE would their deputy assume the office until the election?

My main response is the following:

1. the DCoA's responsibilities should be added into the charter
2. the DCoA should be approved by the Assembly after being appointed by the CoA
3. the DCoA will be the acting CoA following the CTE or removal of the CoA.

I can agree to that, anyone else?
