Trump Presidency
#11

Indeed. Now every comment section on any news video on YouTube is filled with racists thinking that, because Trump "won", they have the right to oppress and lord over people of other races. And don't get me started on the assholes saying Muslim refugees are "rapists seeking to destroy our culture", and bullcrap like that.

The upside is, that is really darn funny to watch those people take any criticism of them or of Trump as a personal attack on their race.

It's just disgusting to read that. For me, it isn't even funny anymore.
Since the refugee crisis, German right-wing-populism and also nazi-ideology was made somehow acceptable again for a huge mass and that's just wrong.
And exactly those people are now looking up to Trump and saying, that we need something like that too.
Those people, that say, that the Holocaust memorial is a landmark of shame in the heart of Berlin, those people that say, that we should forget about everything that happened between 1933 and 1945, those people that are attacking muslims without reasons, those people who you cannot discuss with facts anymore, because they're living "postfaktisch"/post-factual....

It is not okay to call Donald Trump or these ultranationalist far-right politicians "populists." I am a populist who supported Bernie Sanders. This isn't populism but rather nativism. Populism is great, but these people, whether they be Trump, Le Pen, Farage, or Duterte, they do not deserve to represent populism. Populism is Bernie Sanders. These far-right politicians are giving a bad name to populism, something that they are not really part of.

I know. I check out CNN videos on YouTube every now and then, and it's just out of control. Twitter 2012 vs. Twitter 2017. YouTube 2012 vs. YouTube 2017. I want 2012 back.

Well, as a Muslim I find regret in Trump's executive orders.

Now I'm just wondering the results from these acts.

Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors and a guy whose father was murdered by the precursor organization of Hezbollah, denounced this ban. Many people are protesting. This ban just gives al-Qaeda and ISIS more propaganda to radicalize otherwise normal Muslims.

Just because the IS said so?

Meanwhile, in the UK, we have Theresa May getting chummy with Trump and desperately mending bridges with Erdogan, because 'we need strong friends' for when we leave the EU.

1) We had strong friends within the EU, but that doesn't matter because the mis-informed populous voted out in a non-legally binding referendum and now May, who claimed to be a remainer, is charging forwards with no regard to what the will of the people might continue to be as the picture grows clearer because 'the people have spoken!'
2) No matter how bad things get, I don't want to live in a country that throws its values away at the first sign of trouble and snuggles up to these guys.
3) Ugh!

Right now Canada or New Zealand are looking pretty cushy, but nowhere's perfect, of course. Still, there's a long way to go between 'not perfect' and 'trainwreck'.
