If you are feeling reasonable enough to provide some more detail, thank you.

The guidelines are the Forum Moderation Policy, which have existed for quite some time and have always been the responsibility of the Chair to enforce in the Assembly. How they will be enforced is also found in that same policy. None of this is new. The only thing new is that I'm announcing that the Forum Moderation Policy will actually be enforced in the Assembly, as it has not been adequately enforced by prior Chairs.

In regard to accountability, if anyone believes I have violated the rules, any posts they suspect of rules violations should be reported to be addressed by another moderator. The Forum Moderation Policy is clear that the rules apply to everyone, including those responsible for enforcing them, from every moderator up to and including forum administrators. I did address this in the announcement. I'm certainly not exempt from the rules and I don't believe myself in any way above them, but I am responsible for enforcing them in the Assembly.

I realize I haven't been doing well with civility either, but I'm going to be working on that, and it is my job to enforce forum rules in the Assembly. I also mentioned my recent incivility and apologized for it in the announcement. That's pretty much all I can do. I'm not going to abdicate my responsibility to enforce basic civility in the Assembly just because I've screwed up too; all I can do is apologize and try to do better, but the rules still have to be enforced. Constant toxicity is not putting forward a positive portrayal of our community, especially for newcomers.

@sandaoguo, you're the one who posted the Forum Moderation Policy so I'm sure you're aware that threadjacking and posting off-topic comments isn't permitted, especially for the purpose of baiting and trolling. That Sygian also resides in Osiris or that he was on a leave of absence in Osiris has absolutely no relevance to this thread. You don't just get to fling out whatever you want whenever you want to fling it out there to bait and troll other people. You are a forum administrator and you are the one who helped come up with and posted the forum rules. Start acting like it.

Anyway, this is a public thread and I am allowed to comment so.. why the hell not? Happywide

@Sygian, your posting here to further provoke matters isn't helpful or acceptable. You resigned from the Assembly, and while you do have posting access as a registered forum user, that doesn't mean you have the right to abuse it to stir the pot when it suits you. Moreover, while I recognize you didn't start the threadjack about Osiris and your leave of absence, you shouldn't have engaged with it further and in the trollish way you did. Thus:

*** Sygian: Warned for threadjacking and trolling (10 points) ***

I wasn't bluffing when I said I would be enforcing the Forum Moderation Policy, folks. If you want to try to make the argument that enforcing the Forum Moderation Policy to try to make folks be civil because they refuse to do so of their own accord constitutes abuse of authority, be my guest. But I am not going to tolerate this incessant incivility and disruption in the Assembly or be intimidated into not enforcing the Forum Moderation Policy that it is my job to enforce in the Assembly. That's it. Enough. Try to recall me if you think you have a constitutional right to flame, bait, troll, and threadjack.

If there is further threadjacking, I will split and lock the threadjacking posts or lock this thread. If any rules are further violated, more warnings will be issued. If you can't follow the rules, don't post. It's as simple as that. Everyone back on topic and follow the rules.

When did this probably become a "Father Knows Best" state? I'm watching very carefully on what will happen next.

Regardless, if you impose these rules well to actually stop toxicity, praise be onto your role. If you are excessive, fate damn your role.

I won't comment at this time on the Chair's announcement or the warnings given, but I do want to clarify that the Chair and each Minister have the authority to moderate their respective areas and ensure posting within them complies with the Forum Moderation Policy. In fact, the Chair is explicitly mentioned as an example of an official who can moderate their area.

No "Father Knows Best State" intended, I promise. All I want to do is enforce the already established forum rules, and I still hope the need for moderation will be the exception rather than the norm. It's not something I'm eager to do. I've never been much for forum moderation, generally preferring community self-moderation through peer encouragement to be more civil. I hope that community self-moderation vibe will catch on soon.

I am also, of course, open to feedback, as it is my job to work for the Assembly; if someone doesn't like how I'm moderating, they should let me know, albeit in the appropriate way (e.g., not by threadjacking a thread in which moderation has taken place but otherwise isn't about moderation, but rather by either starting another thread or privately contacting me). I will be happy to answer questions, address concerns, and listen to what legislators have to say to improve how the Assembly is moderated and make sure everyone is still having a good experience here. That's what moderation should be about: ensuring that everyone can have a good experience free from the kinds of things we've already deemed unacceptable, like flaming, baiting, and trolling.
