Well, by the time I finish writing this, it will be after midnight here in the not-quite-dark of Aberdeen and so, the Coalition Day Festival 2017 will officially be over, but before I declare it so, I wanted to see if you'd indulge me with a few words.

The South Pacific has been my digital home for over a year now and it has been my pleasure, both as legislator and minister, to do my best to add to its culture and encourage people to enjoy themselves.  The end of this festival effectively (if not literally) marks the end of my eight-month tenure as Minister of Regional Affairs here and, whilst I haven't achieved a great many of the things I set out to do, I'm still proud of the ground that has been covered.  A quick look at the 'completed' tab of my to-do list spreadsheet reveals twenty-three separate tasks marked as 'completed' and several more are classed as 'continuing', meaning that the work is ongoing and bearing results and that isn't nothing.

My biggest sense of failure as MoRA has been my inability to draw many new people here, to these forums, nor to foster a stronger connection with the community on the RMB.  I believe some progress was made in that direction during my two terms, but I'm not satisfied with the results - the relatively quiet nature of this festival being a case in point - and thus, I hope to be able to work with whoever next sits in this seat to see that work continued, especially the new Lampshade Academy, which has the potential to benefit players in real life as well in the game.  I genuinely believe that it is possible to do better in integration and engagement and that, with more people enthused and helping out, we really can become the best pacific for culture.

I don't really know what the future holds for me, in RL or in NS, but I do know that I have found a little corner of the internet that I'm proud to call my home and I hope I'm still here in a year's time to celebrate its fifteenth birthday with you all.
