I think the current language is fine for the present expectations of Legislators. I think, if anything though, a re-definition of Chair's Powers would be best suited for an individual bill which I would definitely welcome seeing. There’s no need at all to revisit the Chair’s power. Legislators have the power to petition for/against applications as a political check, which corrects any oversteps by the Chair or any time where the Chair’s view of bad faith is out of line with the community’s. And if that doesn’t work, then the Assembly can vote to overturn the rejection, and recall the Chair.
We have seen time and time again how bad of an idea it is to try to list every single reason why we should or shouldn’t do anything. Nobody here is omniscient. We always end up in some manufactured emergency because we didn’t foresee some specific thing, and so it’s not in our list of allowed acts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
