An Unsettling Rest IC
#1

It was 5:56pm. Stephen Resvyft was drumming up his fingers along the side of a circular table on what was supposed to be a very important business dinner. The officer of the opposing company, Lingbolts was supposed to arrive but was delayed by traffic. To complicate things further, it turned out that the officer had forgotten some files that he was supposed to bring and had to circle back to his house to get them. Stephen worked at a financial consulting company, Brian McKinnley and Branston. A company that its goals are to assist investors and retirees, and train and advise companies. The company was supposed to have help a company manage its balance sheet and assets, but the CFO whom they have train was bitter over a recent dispute over one of the co-executives and had screw over the company they were supposed to oversee. The executive and chairman were very angry and it ended up costing them 10's of millions of dollars and the news of the mishap spread to their partners and well informed people in the industry.

At 6:40pm, a woman in her 40's had entered through the door. Her golden hair was frizzled and tied in a bun. She wore glasses and sported a dark jacket and a blue shirt. Her leggings also matched the color of her jacket and her expression was difficult to make out. She looked over to her left to where I was sitting, where I was still staring at the entrance waiting for the supposed man to show up.

"Good evening." she said.

"Eh," I responded. She then cleared her throat as if I had missed something.

"John Willington, the officer of Lingolts had to leave for a misunfortunate event. I will be his substitute for the evening. May I take a seat?" she replied. "Now good, it has come to my attention that you are in a proposed deal that is going to take place with my company. But since you have been waiting so long here, I think it would be better that we'd get something to eat first. I'd be displeased to see our guest in a cranky mood after that wait. What do you say?" she smiled slightly and tactfully. The woman was trying to ease in the situation but it did not help much for the fact that I was trying to manage my erratic social life while also maintaining work schedule without getting fired. The restaurant's interior also wasn't helping. The interior decoration had its walls bright red but the room was dark and only lighted by low lighting from the lamps on each table. It wasn't annoying as supermarkets but it made one uncomfortable as if someone was about to come over your table. It came to my attention that I almost didn't heard what she said to me.

"Of course. Yes, I'd love that. I haven't eating anything since I was in the cafeteria which was a sandwich. So uh, what should we be ordering? I don't really go out. So I don't really know any restaurants or what they serve." I replied.

"Well, why don't we just look over at the menu and see?"

"I would but my eyes would just glaze all over the items and I just could not decide nor know what I should order," I shrugged, "It's just too much of a bother."

"You know what, let's just order the steak and salad, if it really bothers you." She was quieting down but being vivid as she was nearly finished saying. "Hmmm?"
