[002] Standards of Conduct
#1

I think it's time that we discuss standards of conduct. I don't think it's a secret that I favour a restrained view of how judges should behave, avoiding most expressions of political bias and involvement when participating in the Assembly and elsewhere in the regional government. I realise that others, especially within the Court, may have a different view, which is completely understandable and valid, but this difference of opinions could lend itself to conflict.

I would like us three to have a discussion on minimum standards of conduct and neutrality, so we can have a common baseline to which we can adhere. Ideally, this discussion would involve general involvement in Assembly affairs, participation in executive offices, participation in security affairs, speech relating to recently decided cases or possible future cases, membership in political parties, among others.

Obviously I'd favour some kind of standard on each of these issues, but right now these are just my ideal topics of discussion, not an imposition that we will have an code of conduct fully to my liking. My goal right now is simply for us to have this conversation and see where it takes us.

Posts outside High Court venues should be taken as those of any other legislator.
I do not participate in the regional server, but I am happy to talk through instant messaging or on the forum.
