[IC] Harmakmis-Gordista Relations
#1

Gordista is a militaristic nation that is the puppet of the pacifistic nation, Harmakmis. Due to their differing morals, they have been locked in a power struggle for years, as each country wants dominance over the other, stretching all the way from Harmakmis' conquest of Gordista.

May, 1698-
The Kingdom of Harmakmis has been around for 177 years now, and the fledgling savanna nation craves new, fertile land. The 1st queen of Harmakmis, Aluni I, calls for five expeditions in total to explore the world.

September, 1701-
Chanka Lou of the Third Royal Expedition, had trekked across rough terrain for three years now, but Chanka was soon greeted to glorious sight.
In his famous words, he spoke,

"Gentlemen of my party... we are done now. We have seen the other side, our country's savior is at our feet. This savage land will become great upon the moment I plant her majesty's flag into this black soil of heaven... Now let us rejoice."

Chanka had found a thin bay along the continent's east coast. It was flat and fertile and full of rain forests, just what the dry nation of Harmakmis needed. However, other people had found the same thing to be true.

1702-
Word was being sent back to the queen as the remaining party got busy. They built a fort and a small settlement on the mouth of the bay. In due time, the first natives were found. They were known as the Gordistanians, Harmakmian for people of the righteous land, as the new land was named Gordistathe righteous land.

The Gordistanians were neither primitive, nor advanced like the Harmakmians. Once nomadic hunter-gathers, these people settled down around 1000 BCE, and formed a great civilization that lasted until around the 1500s, when a drought set in. Wanting to protect what was left of their resources, they used the many trees to build ships and forts, leading them to become a militaristic society. They lived under a single dictator-king, Yon Katra, from 1677 to 17115 He was ruthless, but respected, and he wasn't going to let his kingdom fall without a fight. The first battle was fought in 1703 (Gordista won) and escalated when Harmakmian troops came in 1705.

June, 1715-
The War of Harmakmian Conquest ended a year earlier, with almost 50,000 causalities on both sides and the death of Yon Katra. The Treaty of Fort Chanka was signed, giving Gordista to Harmakmis, and dismantling the Gordistanian military, among many things. The native Gordistanians showed general hatred towards this assimilation, causing tension between the two nations for the years to come.

March, 1763-
The last monarch of Harmakmis, Ker Lanj, was overthrown by the citizens in order to make way for a peaceful democracy. One of the first acts of the new Democratic Republic of Harmakmis, was giving more freedom to Gordista. Gordista used that freedom to expand their military and economic power. With this newfound power, they plan to take down Harmakmis.

February 6, 1767-
Gordistanian leader, Huan Katra speaks before an angry crowd and the fledgling press,

"Only 60 some years ago, the nasty Harmakmians invaded our country and killed my father. They raided our plentiful resources; controlled our government; took away our military. But now they made the grave mistake of giving us our military back. We can now topple them, both on the field of war and in the markets! They shall pay and see the might of the Gordistanians!"

As his voice echoes through the town square, the crowd gets rowdier and rowdier, shouting 'GORDISTA, GORDISTA' at the top of their lungs, as they now see that their moment to rise is near.

The taste of fore coming spilled blood is in the air; war is on the horizon.

April 9, 1767-
Only a few months after Huan's speech, the first troops arrive at Harmakmis.

High in the mountains, the troops of Gordista are very well trained, but under dressed. Used to the tropical climate of their homeland, the soldiers are very cold, and will perform poorly in the heat of battle. The commander soon spots a small village at the headwaters of the Harmakmis River. He signals for his troops to fall in and capture. It was a horrific sight; they slaughter everyone, except for the fittest man. they tell him to run to the next village and the next, until word reaches the capital of the troops arrival. The Gordistanians are ready for battle.
