Resident Spotlight: Al-Orthodoxia
#1

The mysterious Al-Orthodoxia came to the Government House dressed like a knight of the Middle Ages and riding a horse, as if going to battle. I insisted that the horse couldn't go inside, but Al-Orthodoxia wielded their sword and I relented.

1. How did you learn about NationStates? What made you stick around?

I don't recall correctly. I think it was via Google. I was searching for a game which would simulate ruling over a country, and boom, I bounced on NationStates. This was back in 2008 if I recall correctly. I had one nation and well, vanished after 30 days or so. Back in late 2010/early 2011 I rediscovered NS, and me and a RL friend of mine decided to make a nation. He sticked to his nation, I decided to make a thousands puppets, all lasting for a couple of weeks, if not days Tounge. This ''puppet'' however, I think perfectly suits me and my ever stable political standpoint. What has made me stick around? Hmm, I guess the community, or just the sheer fun of ever new ridiculous issues. I mean, come on, there should be a middle ground between exterminating all rodents and wanting them to be the only animal in your nation! Tounge

Ridiculous issues? I know exactly what you mean.

2. What made you come to the South Pacific? Or if your nation was born here, what made you stay in the region?

The RMB, definitely the RMB, I'm not (yet) busy with the regional forums and/or political system, maybe that will change. And that you guys support my country, the Netherlands, during the World Championships, well, how could I leave Smile

I see that you signed up in the forum, so hopefully we'll be seeing you around!

3. What do you like the most about being a resident of the South Pacific?

The fact that you support the Netherlands during the WC, the good community and well, IDK furthermore, just a nice stable region with good folks Smile

4. Do you have any interests outside of NationStates?

Of course! I love politics, but moreover I am deeply in love with history and military things. These three things combinated and you can talk with me for hours. Just the sheer fact that everyone has a history makes me love people, hence I've chosen to study theology (theological mental support, don't know if this is correct). But I'm doing that study for a year, I hope I can study history after that year. And yeah, girls interest me too of course, I may study theology but it doesn't mean I'm not interested in them Tounge.

I furthermore love esoteric material. I am a theist, a strong believer in the afterlife, in a diety or dieties (haven't figured it out) and that there is more than we can measure with our senses. I believe in a soul, spirit, astral planes, etc etc. Might sound a bit new age, but I am maybe, I don't know Smile

And nature! Oh, nature! How I love her! Finland, I want to marry you! You're so beautiful!

So theology...that sounds interesting. You should definitely tell us more about it.
And Finland! I would sure like to visit Finland someday.

5. What is the significance behind your nation name?

The Orthodoxy of our forefathers and that they will always influence our lifes, we are the work of our forefathers and we should be proud of that. Everything we can do is made possible by someone's forefather (and what we can't, except defy physics, or is that something for the future?). It is to show respect history, which will ever influence us, and will never dissapear how much we may want it. It is an ode to pride, an ode to history, an ode to ourselfs, for history is our lifes, and our lifes will one day be history. But I sincerely hope that it'll take a long, long time before that happens to anyone in TSP, or NS for that matter. Heck, just anyone.

6. If you were Delegate for a day, what would you do?

I'd probably give it back to you Kringalia, I've got no experience in delegation and I've no idea how the system works. I'd be fun to run for delegate one day, but nah, not yet Smile

Being Delegate isn't all fun, so be careful what you wish for. Tounge

7. What is your favourite book/movie/song/game?

I'd probably give it back to you Kringalia, I've got no experience in delegation and I've no idea how the system works. I'd be fun to run for delegate one day, but nah, not yet Smile
7) Music is life, music is the source of most emotions and mental states. I'm more busy with music than the other two. I'm currently in love with the OST from Skyrim, but furthermore I love the music from Scott Tobin (orchestral OSTs), instrumental music and folk. Thus mostly instrumental Smile
I love movies about, you guessed it, history. A good example is Agora and I seriously recommend it for anyone interested in the conflict between the rise of Christianity and the original religions in ancient Rome. King Arthur (2004) is a great film too. Lord of the rings, GoT etc are nice too.
Books? Hmm, not literature, mostly books about history. Information like books, some sorts of encyclopedias, I don't know the exact English word for it, but I hope you get the idea Wink
Games? Crusader Kings II, Skyrim, Banished, and SpinTires, because Russian roads, and Russian roads are awesome. Because you tend to get stuck, just like real life.

8. Cake or Pie? (there is only one right answer! Tounge )

Pff, meat! real strong men need good meat to stay alive, this is the only legitimate answer, women need sweetness, men need strength!

Well, at least it wasn't pie.

9. Who or what would you want with you if you were stranded on a deserted island? Note: you already have food, some semblance of shelter, a grass skirt and a lampshade.

A very very very good question. I'm going to be the special snowflake and pretend to be content with the things Tounge Nah, I'd probably take this girl with me whom I like, watch the stars together, be romantic, be happy, that cliche stuff. Or, maybe, a shovel, because, well, dig a shelter against the sun. It depends, is it a tropical island?

Anything else you would like to add?

I want to give this advice to anyone who reads it; whatever keeps you down, keep hope that things will be better, I'm sure you'll find comfort in these words when the time is needed.
Zammora, dude, you rock! If you ever find this, you're a great guy and I hope everything will go smooth in your life, just want to tell it this indirect way, may the suprise get you better, beste vriend Wink
Aden Protectate, keep up the good life in Mongolia, be safe and be good, keep on the right path and erüül mendiin tölöö!
Rest from TSP, I want to give you guys all a hug and hope the best in you guys/girls life. Stay away from the bad stuff as you're told, respect your parents and keep faith. Death is not the end may someone die you know, protect the memories you have and smile about them. Keep hope that things will be better may they become bad, message me if you feel depressed or anything, and I'll see you when our time has come Wink
Anyone who is a random site visitor; Join NS and join the community, it's great!

And there goes the longest closing statement in any Spotlight thus far. Tounge
Thanks to Al-Orthodoxia for a wonderful interview!
