[PASSED] Amendment to Article 2 of the Legislative Procedure Act (Naming) |
Proposing this amendment to allow the Chair to utilise their discretionary powers to alter names of positions and institutions in laws to ensure consistency
Quote:(4) The Chair may correct typographical errors, grammatical errors, naming or formatting inconsistencies at any time, as long as these corrections do not alter the original intent of the law, following a three day period in which the corrections are presented to the assembly for comments. Any such corrections must be recorded with the legislative history of each law.

Oh, definite support.
No opposition from me.
Yass.
how am i even still a legislator at this point...?
Honourable Chair, I motion to waive the debate period.
In addition, I suppose "naming" would also include changing the names of laws if the title of a law were to change and are referenced in other pieces of legislation
I second the motion to waive the debate period.

Should no objection be heard in the next 22 hours, the debate period shall be waived.
Support for this. Very basic and useful amendment.
