Bzerneleg on Recent Election Corruption Scandals

GOVERNMENT ISLAND - Legislator Bzerneleg today released the following statement in response to a recent series of corruption cases being filed in the High Court relating to the Cabinet elections:

"What we are seeing with our politicians' behaviour is appalling and absolutely unacceptable. I think that officials are not realizing their important responsibility, to be an exemplary member of the community and maintain good behaviour. What they're doing is the complete opposite. We will continue to monitor the situation and let justice do its job. But, most importantly, I believe if they're proven to be guilty, no more talking, they ought to step down from the government."

Bzerneleg on Possible Assembly Chair Run 

GOVERNMENT ISLAND -  When asked whether he will run in the February 2019 Chair of the Assembly election, Legislator Bzerneleg said the following:

"Although I have not made a decision on this, I am giving it very serious consideration. But all I can tell you is that I love the Assembly with all my heart. Honestly, I can't talk about my time in TSP without talking about this legislature and the wonderful people I work with. So, from now up until the nomination process of the election, I will be considering a run and will be making an official statement soon. Stay tuned!"

Bzerneleg Announcing Candidacy for Chair of the Assembly 

GOVERNMENT ISLAND -  Legislator and current Deputy Chair Bzerneleg made a speech in front of the Assembly building, announcing candidacy for Chair of the Assembly and making his slogan 'Turning Aims into Actions' the core of his campaign:

My fellow Legislators, I joined the Assembly last year in March, with high hopes, that I would be able to do something big, and with great energy and devotion, to a cause that I know would span greater than myself.

As I get myself deeper into the vibrant debating and lawmaking process that this legislature has, I began to understand just how important it is to the functioning of our government, to the bright men and women who serve in it and to the people of which they govern.

Such a significant institution demands from the person who leads it, knowledge, experience, skills, and leadership which will guide them in making the Assembly better for all of us. It demands from our Chair the ability to command the support of Legislators. The ability to set and achieve a vision for the Assembly. It demands from our Chair that they serve as an example for all future Legislators. And finally, it demands that our next Chair brings this great legislature to heights no one previously could ever think of.

That is why I am hereby announcing my candidacy for Chair of the Assembly. 

And one last thing, my fellow legislators, today, I ask you to aim higher than no one else ever did. Because there is one thing I can promise you: As long as we still have hope, hope in ourselves, hope in our people, and hope in our region, we shall never stop aiming for higher heights.

Let us together gather our energy, devotion, and commitment that we bring to this endeavour to turn our dreams into reality, good words into good deeds, promises made into promises kept, and Aims into Actions!
