Citizen's Spotlight - Seraph / Erinor
#1

Beepee strides onto the stage, wearing his finest suit.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the audience....

"Get on with it!", someone heckles

.... and our viewers at home. It's an honour to bring to you today another extra special guest in Citizen's Spotlight.

This is something of a coup for our little show. Although I perhaps shouldn't use that word around him.

Our guest tonight is the most revered, most fabulous and most delightful Delegate Erinor.

Gasps of disbelief can be heard from the audience .

As dignified as ever, our Delegate Erinor enters from backstage, and the crowd cheers in patriotic support.

Welcome! Welcome, Erinor! How are you today?

I'm not too bad today. It's a day off and the communications I was worried might arrive from work haven't, so I'm just able to enjoy some time with my daughter and now you fine people!

It's customary for me to get you a drink... what will you have?

I'd very much like an Irish Coffee, please.

Aidenfieeld rushes on stage with an Irish coffee and biscuit, shaking as he presents to Erinor

Thank you intern. It's so difficult to get the staff these days!

Let's begin shall we? You won the Delegate election back in January, battling bravely against a very attractive, funny, witty, kind, generous, competent and capable foe. It must have been nice to crush the hopes and dreams of your adversary?

I like to think I was doing the region a favour. If I'd let you win, you'd be dossing around just like me and not being one of the best MoRAs we've had since, well me!

Beepee beams with pride as Erinor takes another sip of his coffee

To be fair, there has been at least one MoRA since me who was undeniably better than I was.

In my opinion, you're still the standard by which we all measure ourselves. You're now in your second stint as Delegate. What's been the biggest difference between this term and your previous tenure?

It is indeed my second Delegate term. The biggest difference so far is how much more relaxed I feel in the role than last time. I know what the expectations are and that I'm able to fulfil them, so I'm keeping on top of things without stress - not that it's a very stressful job, most of the time, unlike MoRA.

Does that mean this has been you favourite tenure?

I would say that, so far, this is proving to be my favourite Delegate term.

That's great news! Hopefully it stays that way. Could you let our audience know, what's the best and the worst thing about being Delegate?

The best thing?

UNLIMITED COSMIC POWER!

No, seriously, it's being able to serve my favourite region in a way which, I feel, particularly suits me.

The worst thing would be some of the telegrams I get. Some new nations can send incredibly rude replies to the welcoming TG!

Shocking! And utterly unacceptable! BAN THEM IMMEDIATELY!

Despite that, you're almost universally loved by the masses of TSP. As Delegate what's the one thing you would like to say to TSP right now.

Keep being awesome - in fact, if you can manage it, be more awesome!

We're an amazing region, but we could learn to be a little more loving and respectful of each other sometimes, and, especially, givien the nature of the community and online interactions in general, be more sensitive to each other's moods and needs.

Love ya!

The audience erupts with thunderous applause. "We love you too!" screams someone from the audience

I'd love you to run for Delegate again in July, and I know its early to ask... but will we see a double term from you this time?

I don't know! Maybe? I love doing this and I honestly believe I'm pretty well-suited to it, but I don't want to stand forever in the way of other great candidates.

*nudges Beepee*

Then again, there's Tsu's second place record to beat... Tounge

We can but hope you'll run again.

Now I want to take you back to June 2017. You had an interview with Punchwood who asked you "Where do you think the region is going?"

You replied "I'm honestly unsure. I'm pretty certain that there are changes ahead, but whether they are for good or ill, I'm not in a position to say. I'll watch with interest and do my best to help make the right decisions as we go. "

Knowing what you know now, a year and a half later, what would your answer be to that question?

To be honest, I'd probably say the exact same thing.

TSP always seems to be on the cusp of change and sometimes those changes are big and sometimes they are so small that they are barely noticed. Despite all this, TSP remains and manages to remain essentially the same.

We've seen some huge changes since then, not least on our RMB, which has a very different character to the one I first joined and I'll be honest and say that I don't like it as much - but I don't want to force a culture on it, even if I do want to restrain some of the more... insalubrious RPs.

Our Assembly, too, seems to have a slightly different character these days and, if anything, it seems much stronger, which is great to see. But we're still TSP, still the best!

We'll take a short break for a word from our sponsors and be right back when we get to know our beloved delegate a little deeper

Welcome back. We're chatting with our most wonderful Delegate Erinor.

I'd like to turn now to some of your personal life experiences. For those who dont know, you're a really good singer and you do the housework karaoke on Discord, which I love.

I know you auditioned for a talent show, and though you didn't get chose, what was that experience like?

It was one of the coolest experiences of my life.

I got through from my application to the first stage auditions and sang a minute of a capella in a room with ten other auditionees before they whittled us down to just two to go on to the next stage - myself not included, obviously. I wasn't upset at all, though, 'cos I heard the quality of the competition in that room, saw that even then only two were chosen and didn't feel out of place in it all at all. It was a real privelege to be part of.

To me it sounds scary and overwhelming, and in my opinion you're very brave. Do you have any plans to do it again in the future?

I would like to try again, but I doubt it'll happen this year.

Well, you have us all cheering you on in both word and gesture.

You're also a very talented writer, and we know you've penned excellent stories and sermons, whilst I know you're very busy, do you have any plans for more writing?

I always want to do more writing, but tend to lack the time/enthusiasm these days.

Sadly, this even includes no longer taking part in the forumside nation RP I used to enjoy writing for.

I'm in the middle of a novel I really want to finish one day and I have two more unfinished novels on the backburner as well as my (rather lengthy) unfinished webfiction series, SHADOW!.

I also have numerous short story ideas floating around that I might work on or continue one day. Who knows?

I just need the motivation. Reading and letting me know what you think is a great way to motivate me!

Well hopefully our audience will go to your blogspot and read and give feedback and motivation.

You've been very open the past about anxiety, which affects so many of us. I think you've been very good at providing what I call 'pastoral care' to others.

What's the one piece of advice you give yourself when your anxiety levels rise and/or what's the one thing you would want to say to others who may be experiencing anxiety.

The biggest thing I've learned recently is to allow myself to have bad days. It's okay to have anxiety sometimes, so long as I try to use my coping mechanisms. But even then, beating myself up about having a bad day will not help. I have to show myself the kind of compassion I would want to show others.

That's such good advice for anyone with anxiety. Looking after yourself, understanding your anxiety and being compassionate to yourself. Wise words from our illustrious leader.

Now, we're going to a quickfire set of questions. These are the important hard hitting questions, and we want straight answers, no fence sitting! Ready?

Ready!

Cake or Pie? and no you can't choose Independesserts.

Oh, so difficult! But if it comes with ice cream, then pie... or hot chocolate fudge cake. Can I not just pick ice cream?

I'll need to push you for an answer

Cheesecake! :S

Being MoRA or being Delegate?

Delegate. It's so much easier. Although, at it's best, being MoRA was pretty awesome, too!

Lampshades, with or without tassels?

Oh, definitely without. I'm a sucker for a nice linen cylinder, personally.

Favourite SPIT flavour?

Beepeean, of course!

Beepee blushes with pride Why, thank you! Favourite song to sing at housework karaoke?

Oh, there are so many, but if I had to narrow it down to just one, then... Dareka no negai ga kanau koro (when someone's wish comes true), by Utada Hikaru. Originally from the film Casshern, which everyone has forgotten...

Beepee heads off backstage and comes back with his dvd of Casshern to be signed by Erinor

Not quite everyone! Happiest day of your life, so far?

When my daughter was born and I had to hold her all wrapped up inside my hoodie.

Awe that's such an sweet answer. And with that , I'll bring this interview to a close.

It's been a truly wonderful experience having you here and I hope the audience at home got to see how incredible you are.

Thank you again for being our wonderful Delegate and all that you do for us.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please show your appreciation for Erinor!

The crowd erupts once more in patriotic applause
