FIHAMI NATIONAL ANTHEM- FRI, FRI, FRI HANI
A native chant given modern twist, as popularized by Kitoka Haru, Tam Pini'i, and Terra Kokota of the band "Ha'Finix Ku-Ku'Ofir"

Fri, Fri, Fri Hani
Fri, Fri, Fri Hani,
Fri, Fri, Fri Hani
Fri eit ki'Hani shi'Huah'Huah i Kitoki

Fri, Fri, Fri Hani,
Kiria Ha'Finix ki ku'Ofir
ki'Fi in'ah'Fi ki ku'Ofir
Hani ki Finixli-om isi

TRANSLATION-
Fly, fly, fly Hani, x3
Fly high above Hani's shiny oceans and jungles

Fly, fly, fly Hani
The Great Phoenix' blessing runs through your blood
the fire, burning bright fire, in our blood
Hani is ours forever

NOTE: The traditional chant is just "Fri, Fri, Fri Hani" to traditional drum beats, lead by a lower male's voice, gradually becoming the entire village over time. The modern song is growled through the 2 verses over guitar work, gradually building as traditional style goes. Many FiHamians have suddenly accepted the modern version as a national anthem in a sudden patriotic wave.

FiHami's national animal- Falco incendis, aka the Fire falcon, torch hawk, fi-nix.

Falco incendis is a medium to large sized bird found in Finix Archipelago exclusively. They are characterized by dark reddish-brown to reddish-orange plumage; black underbelly, talons, and beak; and bright orange to yellow crest and tail feathers. They nest on the various crevices on Ri-Ha'Fi-nix, flying to the various jungles outside of mating season to feed on mostly smaller parrots, insects, rats, and other small animals.

This falcon has developed a very interesting hunting style, where the bird takes a dry stick and lights it on fire via various open lava pools on the main island, thanks to many earthquakes and a massive lava chamber underneath the archipelago. Falco incendis drops the sticks to start a fire in a small area, driving potential prey out of their homes, providing easier pickings for these birds to then catch their prey.

Historical and Mythological Significance

The fi-nix is said to be a bird born of fire in Finixian mythology. They were heralders of the time, when to be nomadic and when they were allowed to settle. They were said to be controlling of the weather, of daytime and nighttime, of high tide and low tide, and how stars moved across the sky at night. Ancient Finixians would pray to the fi-nix for blessings and such.

The belief of Ha'Finix arose about 2,000 years ago, based on archeological findings, tablets depicting 1 big fi-nix over the earth, creating and protecting it. A 1,500-year-old tablet had been found in a sea cave depicting Ha'Finix descending on one girl in the midst of what is believed to be different clans fighting each other, followed by celebrations after. This correlates with the commonly told founding myth of Hani. Another tablet found in the same cave depicts Ha'Finix being born from the sun, then proceeding to create the universe.

Many traditions FiHamians honor today arise from the legends of Ha'Finix, such as leadership appointing, giftings for peace and prosperity, and how seasons are defined.

Parliamentary system in FiHami and political parties:

The 5 major parties in FiHami are:

Finixli-i Parti (I)- Finixli-i Parti generally support globalization and participating in world affairs. They tend to be Center-Left Libertarian on the political spectrum.

Finixli-o Parti (O)- Finixli-o Parti is very much opposite of Finixli-i Parti. They do not support globalizing FiHami, they want Chiefdom reinstated, and to close off from the global stage. They are Right-Authoritarian on the political spectrum generally.

Ekoloki Parti (E)- Ekoloki Parti focuses much heavier of conservationism and supports reducing pollutants, protecting FiHami's unique ecosystem, and alternative energy. They are generally Left-Center on the political spectrum.

Siens Parti (S)- Siens Parti wants to limit FiHami's traditional culture in favor for scientific pursuits and education. They are generally Left-Center politically.

Politika Li'ipera (PL)- Politika Li'ipera is communist party in FiHami. They want major advancements in welfare and social reform. They are extremely Left-Authoritarian.

Parliament is set to be structured to represent 1 person for every 1,000 people. 60% will represent the Lower Chamber and 40% will represent the upper chamber. Laws will be written in the lower chamber, passed to the upper chamber, approved by the Speaker, then approved and signed by the Chief. The Chief retains the right to sign in whatever law she desires without parliamentary approval, but parliament may vote to repeal the Chiefs' laws.

Education and Career in FiHami

Public education in FiHami has always been limited. Education generally covers the very basic things, like maths, Finixian, and history with a few electives. At age 11, students begin working on trade skills; The most popular of these being Basketry, Fishery, Falconry, and Blacksmithing. However, many other trades are offered. Students will seek apprenticeship during this time, and will essentially be done with school.

In 2001, thanks to the Emperor's dedication to knowledge, established the University of Cancerton, in present-day Ha'Hani. The Emperor brought in professors to teach more advanced subjects for academia fields. The first year the program was opened (2003), about 30 students enrolled for the programs. By 2013, the University of Cancerton was the main source of academics at any level, enrolling 4 year olds just beginning school to 60 year olds wishing to entertain themselves during retirement.

FiHami Education is generally 7 years long, beginning at 4 years old. A general track can be shown here:
  1. 1st year (4-5 years old)- alphabet, numbers, Traditional stories, Geography of FiHami
  2. 2nd year (5-6)- spelling, addition/subtraction, Traditional stories, Plants of FiHami
  3. 3rd year (6-7)- Reading and Writing, multiplication/division, Traditional Stories, Art

  5. 5th year (8-9)- Finixian Language, English Language, pre-algebra, Tribal History, Music
  6. 6th year (9-10)- Finixian Literature, English Language, pre-algebra, History since the 1600's, Music

Historical Hani Homosexuality and Transgenderism

Before Antarchi values were imposed on the Finixian people, marriage wasn't even a known term. Gender wasn't especially prominent either, except when it came to family life, and therefore government, where women were seen as the most fit leaders because they were the ones who give birth to children. Family and friendships (who were considered family anyways) were therefore headed by the matriarch, referred to as Ha'ana'aimei, the oldest woman in the family unit. However, men were seen as having the crucial role of providing food, water, shelter, and defense to their families, which was seen as equal work to the child rearing.

Interestingly, while the task of childrearing obviously went to females, the rest of societal functions weren't strictly relegated by gender, but by aptitude. Men who were adept at caring for children could be stay at home dads, and women who were adept at fishing or blacksmithing could do those jobs as well without anyone really caring. Because of the Finixian lack of gender, honosexuality doesn't even have a specific word, as it is just seen as friendship. Just like heterosexuality. In this way, gender, sexuality, and transgenderism wasn't a concept understood by Finixians until Antarchi arrival.

Since Antarchi contact, the ideals with clear divisions between mens and womens have permeated a little bit into Finixi culture, but only as far as identifying men and women (Man, Man'shi and Fiman and Fiman'shi rather than kana'a, or kana'i'shi). Homosexuality had also been identified, and generally seen as a negative thing due to Antarchi values. Transgenderism still hadn't become an issue. The concept of marriage as a legality was introduced as well.

The FiHamian Tribes

In FiHami before the unification of the Finixian tribes, they lived separately and fought each other for approximately 2,000 years.  The major tribes were Kokostali, Fi'Shi, Kilaweioni, Hastofi, and Ifi'ikuri.  There were over 100 minor tribes that stayed small and were "satellite" tribes of the major tribes, or rejected criminals. (Krasat was a satellite tribe of Fi'Shi.  Tikili was an example of a tribe of rejected criminals.)

Kokostali:  The name "Kokostali" derives from the tribe's founder, only recorded in legend.  Kokasta was the Matriarch of this tribe and, when the first Finixians fought over who should be their chief, was the first to volunteer.  She claimed that her artistic skills was proof that she should be chief.

It is said that those of tribe Kokostali are artists and musicians.  They are said to possess a fine hand and sharp eyesight.

The Kokostali tribe suffered the least during the White-Cormic Empire, as they were generally appreciated as artists.

According to the Finixi Tribal Registry (a government-owned registry started in 1920), in 2018, there were 1,590 registered as part of the Kokostali tribe.

Fi'Shi: The name "Fi'Shi" originated from the leaders of the ships who navigated the Finixi fleets to the island.  They united under the captain Fishi, who was naturally selected as chief.  He declined, however.  The historic figure who forced the unification of the Finixi tribes is said to be originally from Fi'Shi.

Historically, the chiefs of FiHami have all descended from the Fi'Shi tribe.  They are said to be natural leaders, intelligent, and humble.  In 1997, the Antarchi government led a concentration camp that gathered every person in the registry under Fi'Shi and forced those over the age of 12 to work.  After the camp was abandoned, the remaining residents remained in the area, converting it to the Sami Village.

According to the Finixi Tribal Registry, in 2018 there were no officially registered people of the Fi'Shi.

Kilaweioni: The name "Kilaweioni" referred to the legendary martyr Kawei'o who was killed defending her village from the sea monster La'Oni.

In history, the Kilaweioni tribe were common people who were weavers.  In 1943, secret warriors of the Kilaweioni tribe led an attack on Cancerton (now Ha'Hani) to remove the White-Cormics from the area and reclaim the land.  However, the attack failed and Antarchi law enforcement led a mass execution against the tribe, which failed as well.

According to the Finixi Tribal Registry, there are 3,269 registered members of the Kilaweioni tribe.

Hastofi: The name "Hastofi" referred to the name of the first Ha'Toa of the tribes, whose family united after Hastofi's death fighting the sea monster Alahuah.

The Hastofi tribe people were seen as tough and strong people, and were generally feared warriors.

In history, the Hastofi people generally served as fighters and warriors.  Some of the top-ranked warriors were of the Hastofi tribe.

According to the Finixi Tribal Registry, there are 2,078 registered members of the Hastofi tribe.

Ifi'Ikuri:  The name "Ifi'Ikuri" was actually 2 tribes who had united.  In folklore, twins Ifi'i and Kuri were tricksters and pranksters.  Yet, when push came to shove, they always helped their friends.

The members of the Ifi'Ikuri tribe are known for being playful and loyal.

According to the Finixi Tribal Registry, there are 1,359 registered members of the Ifi'Ikuri tribe.

The Tale Of The Unification Of The 5 Finixi Tribes

From the time that the first settlers arrived on what they called "The Island of Plenty", or Motatilei, the people who settled on the island were united. They lived together peacefully, and had everything they ever needed. The population grew over the years, and as it grew, people began yo be annoyed at one another.

Now, in the center of the large village, was a house, owned by an old lady, the daughter of one of the first settlers who landed. She had 5 sons: Fi'Shi, Kokostali, Hastofi, Kilaweioni, and Ifi'Ikuri. The 5 children of the elder fought a lot, especially over the 5 amulets they were gifted, by the priest of the island.

The settlers of the island all banded together under either Fi'Shi, Kokostali, Hastofi, Kilaweioni, or Ifi'Ikuri. They developed rivalries against one another. But, they were still held together by the matriarch, who helped calm everyone down.

On the day that the matriarch passed away, the 5 siblings began to blame each other. Then, Hastofi stole Kokostali's own amulet. Enraged, Kokostali slayed his brother and took back his amulet as well as as Hastofi's amulet.

The remaining sons of the matriarch decided it would be best to separate from each other. Hastofi's eldest son, Fa, began leading those who supported his father and took the tribe to the south end of the main island.
Kokostali went west, to the very edge of the main island. Ifi'Ikuri and Kilaweioni went to the other island, and settled as far from each other as possible. Fi'Shi stayed around the base of the volcano. And thus, the 5 tribes of the Finixi were born.

Over time, with isolation, the tribes all developed their own dialects, their own customs, and such. They would constantly fight against each other (In fact, it is very easy to find plenty of artifacts from the old battles if you look around the ground. Sharp shards from the blades of swords, arrowheads, and more can be found easily!).

By 2000BCE, the tribes had nothing but hatred for one another, and killing was constant. The tribal leaders would slander their neighbors and shed blood amongst each other.

At 10BCE, a young woman known as Fi Onixia, from the tribe Fi'Shi, has had enough. She forced the tribe's chief to step down and became the matriarch of the tribe. By 6BCE, the Fi'Shi tribe had become peaceful and prosperous amongst themselves. It is at this time that Onixia would begin advocating for the end of all the fighting. However, the other four tribes refused.

It is said that Onixia travelled to the top of the volcano to try to clear her mind one day. At that moment, She saw a giant bird unlike any the tribes had ever seen. The bird landed in front of her, then attacked. Onixia fought back valiantly, and the bird spit at her, burning her. She fell unconscious, and entered a dream. The bird began to speak, and told her that it is her duty to unite the tribes into one, and bring peace to the lands. Onixia asked for the bird's name, to which it responded, "Ha'Finix", and flew away. When Onixia awoke, she had a sword by her side, and she knew that it was time to fight.

Towards the end of 5BCE, Fi Onixia had forced the other 4 tribes to surrender, and united them all into one tribe, "ki Hani Finixi". She thus took the title, "Ha'Coron'", and gathered all 5 amulets. She created what is now recognizeable as the headdress that the chief wears all the time, brandishing all 5 amulets together, but now like a crown rather than a necklace. Peace was brought to the island.
